The audacity knocks a sharp, incredulous laugh out of George. Max watches him with the absorbed concentration he brought to the race, and the laughter dies under the renewed pressure of it.
"You are remarkably confident for someone under investigation."
"You're changing the subject," Max says.
"I'm saving it for when Charles isn't listening."
From the far chair, Charles raises both hands. "Please save all of it."

Summary
1985. FBI Agent Max Verstappen is a man built on facts and fury. Summary
Although someone once said George wasn't a very good race engineer. He'd nodded for the bit. Acted like he understood where the comment was coming from, really did try to understand because George is a man with many mistakes to his name, but he'd gone home a little more annoyed than usual. The weather was terrible.
Kimi has a race engineer he doesn't treat well. George is somewhat used to this.
