    Shane’s phone begins vibrating. When he looks, they both see it’s a FaceTime call from Ilya.
    “You’re killing me, Hollander.” Rose says, “I’m trying to wallow about being single.”
    “Sorry. Just a sec, promise.”
    “Nothing can stop the first husbands of hockey.”
    Shane rolls his eyes but then snaps his thumb across his screen to answer.
    “Back at your hotel?” Ilya asks, nearly mid-sentence.
    “No, I’m still here with Rose.”
    “Is that new shirt? The color is good. You look hot.”

    Rose grinds her teeth. She loves Shane and Ilya together. They are adorably obsessed with each other, like coyotes in heat or something, even after all these years. But she hadn’t felt this single in a long time. And two more of her friends from high school posted about their engagements last week.
