She wasn’t even fighting back. What a stupid creature. He wondered briefly if it would have been more fun if Annie had made a ruckus, if she had tried to save her pathetic life. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Alastor was bigger and stronger- he would have won.
Alastor raised the axe high above his head and brought the weapon down.
Time seemed to slow down as he lowered the axe. At the last second, Annie understood her own mortality. Fear filled her beady little eyes, and she sucked in a terrified breath- like she was trying to scream for help.
Didn't she understand that no one would help her? That it was her destiny to die by Alastor’s hand?
The smile cemented itself on Alastor's face.

Summary
When the other Vees don't show up to stop Vox, Alastor is forced to, once again, save the day himself. He offers to make Vox a deal. One martini in exchange for saving the world.
Of course, every deal made in Hell has much more to it than what the words alone say. Their personal history with the cocktail goes back to the 1960's, a brand new sinner named Vincent getting the lay of Hell, a wide-smiling patron of the arts, and an utter refusal to ever define a relationship.
It's a love story, if you squint.

There is a man at the bar, writing in a notebook while nursing a drink; long fingers and dark skin, glasses slipping down his nose. If Vincent had to guess, he'd say they were around the same age, give or take. He's... pretty. Vincent's eyes keep coming back to him. He wonders if the man comes here often; Vincent's never actually been to this bar-- tonight is a bit of an occasion. He checks his watch and he has time, so he sidles up to the neighboring stool and sits.
Vincent Whittman fails to impress a stranger at a bar, but then said stranger watches him commit a murder.

Summary
Having made no deals to secure his power, Alastor has spent his afterlife in Hell a fairly average Sinner with one particular unique ability: a voice that makes him all but irresistible to most demons. For decades, he’s been bound to Rosie's service, using his silver tongue and natural charisma to help her negotiate her contracts.
Of course, his talent is no match for someone like Vox. But their first meeting makes an impression nevertheless. Vox finds himself fixated on Alastor and compelled to possess him. So he does what any businessman would and makes a deal to buy Alastor’s soul.
A deal with Rosie, that is. After all, Alastor’s soul is no longer his own property.
Blindsided and bitter over the forced upheaval of his afterlife, Alastor plans to rebel in every way possible. His brattiness does nothing to deter Vox, who’s determined to find the obedient pet hidden underneath. Both are thrown very much off-balance by an unexpected affection mixed into their antagonism.
But affection doesn't equate to peace. Even if they do want to navigate the completely unfamiliar territory of a partnership, there's still the risk of driving each other crazy along the way.
