Summary
Merlin turns then, his face - oh, he really is beautiful - only a hair’s breadth away from Arthur’s. He freezes, as though he hadn’t realised Arthur’s there. His gaze roams over Arthur’s face, slightly cross-eyed from the proximity. For a fraction of a second, his blue eyes flick to Arthur’s lips before they close. Merlin huffs, extracting himself from the small space, leaving Arthur there with a pounding heart and warm face. Why does this always happen when Merlin’s close?
***Takes place during The sword in the stone episode, Part 1, when the simpleton spell is cast on Arthur. Told from Arthur's POV.

Summary
King Arthur sets out to keep his promise to the spirit of the Druid boy by repealing his father's ban on magic. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, for reasons including but not limited to the following:
(1) He can't change the law until he understands magic better, but no sorcerer is willing to explain magic to him until he changes the law;
(2) The sorcerers all have some strange obsession with Merlin, which is awakening all sorts of feelings in Arthur that he really doesn't fancy examining too closely;
(3) He is starting to feel like the butt of some Druid-population-wide inside joke involving the mysterious phenomenon called Emrys; and
(4) Oh yeah, Morgana is still trying to kill him.
Thus he embarks on a journey of discovery, diplomacy, accountability, and self-improvement, and maybe even falls in love along the way.

Summary
When Arthur goes back for his manservant in the tunnels, he discovers the secrets Merlin has been hiding and makes an unforgivable mistake. With blood on his hands, and the whole kingdom unable to meet his eye, Arthur is pushed from Camelot. Forced to be alone with his thoughts and try to deal with the consequences of his actions.
In one final attempt to make things right, he bargains with the sidhe. Trading his prophesied return for Merlin to live once more. The sidhe accept Arthur's offer, but there's one issue they don't mention to the disgraced king. Merlin never went to Avalon. In fact, he never left Camelot at all.
Merlin may be back - albeit minus a handful of years worth of memories - but the people of Camelot still do not trust their king, and the enemies of Camelot draw closer by the day. Will Arthur be able to face Merlin and come clean? Will Merlin ever be able to work by Arthur's side again? Or will Camelot's enemies overthrow the weak king, and destroy the last chances of Albion ever being united?
