Summary
Cal’s daemon hasn’t settled yet on the day Master Tapal asks him to be his padawan. But that's to be expected – he's only nine, after all. But then she doesn't settle when he goes to war either, and then at the age of twelve she’s still flitting between forms, even when his entire world (when the entire galaxy) comes crumbling down around them. On Bracca, Cal starts to find it easier to just pretend she already has.
By seventeen, he’s starting to suspect she never will.
Or: the self-indulgent daemon!AU nobody asked for.

Summary
Choice.
Cal chokes, a breathless laugh. “You want me to join you? Me?”
The Inquisitor doesn’t seem to find it as funny as Cal does. “And why is that so unbelievable, young one? Your hate is impressive. Your fear already rules you. You are one of us already, even if you don’t accept it yet.”
“Black isn’t really my colour.”
(Or: The Second Sister captures Cal on Bracca, and Cal Kestis cements his place in the history books as the worst Inquisitor to ever do it. He keeps helping the rebels, and befriending droids. It’s embarrassing, really.)

Summary
There is a Lhazareen saying: ‘No rain without thunder, no child without pangs.’
One week before Queen Aemma’s due date, a slave who speaks the bastard tongue of old Valyria is brought to King’s Landing with a prophecy and a wish. One that foretells the Queen's death in childbirth, and a wish to deliver her child safely. This is the story of a modern midwife in Westeros.

Summary
Cere shakes her head again, lowering her hands to her lap and lacing her fingers together. “I’m… not sure. Could be nothing.”
“Cere, if you really think this is a trap –”
“It’s not that,” she says. “It’s – a feeling of foreboding. I’m not sure if it’s this job or something else. Like I said, it might be nothing.” She shoots Cal a ghost of a smile. “Might be Greez’s kath shank.”
“Hey, have I ever given any of you food poisoning?” Greez bustles past them on his way to the navicomputer. “I think not!”
(Middle-aged schoolteachers would probably make terrifying Inquisitors, so the Mantis crew attempts to break a Force-sensitive woman out of prison before the Empire finds out her secret. It ends poorly. They try to pick up the pieces, afterwards... which would be easier if they didn’t need to leave a piece behind.)

Summary
After fighting a rancor and breaking a leg in the process, Cal informs an aghast Greez there are worse things in the galaxy...
Greez presses his hands together, raising two to rest against his large forehead as though in prayer. “Please, Cal, please be lying.”
BD promises Cal is not lying.
"Don’t ask for the story if you aren’t willing to hear it,” Monk counsels, his cloth squeaking as he wipes out a few tumblers. “I for one would love to know what’s worse than a rancor.”
Groaning Greez drops his hands. “I know I’m going to regret this –”
“You can stop while you’re ahead,” Cal says.
“– but what is worse than a rancor?”
“Rathtars.”
