Summary
Sold from one owner to the next after his dragon abilities are discovered, Anakin finally ends up with Obi-Wan as his... handler. Obi-Wan Kenobi has learned, the hard way, not to care. Caring gets you killed, caring breaks your heart, caring is what drives people to do stupid things and cause problems that wouldn't have existed otherwise. Obi-Wan Kenobi has extensive experience with every single one of those things. He simply wasn't made to live a life where caring is a thing one can do. It's okay. He understands.
Marshall Commander Cody has learned, the hard way, that nobody cares. His brothers do, sure, and the Jedi, but the Jedi are busy and all of his brothers are just as powerless as he is. Most of them are even more powerless than he is. And of course, nobody else does, either. He's a clone. That's just not what he was made for. It's okay. He understands.
Or, two broken people get locked in a Separatist prison together for a month, and it changes everything.

“Yes,” Bail responded, tightening the sash around Ben’s waist. “You’re the one that I chose as my plus one. Besides, I heard that the Mand'alor will be there.”
Ben quickly turned to glare at his friend, “Oh, so that’s why you chose me. So that I can be the herald of Bail Organa. Isn’t Breha available to sing your praises?”
“No, she’s going to dinner with a friend,” Bail tugged on the sash to make it fit just right before stepping away with his hands on his hips. “And besides, she doesn’t have the… language skills that you do.”
Putting his hand to his forehead for extra dramatic effect, Ben continued with his rant, “Is that all I am to you? A translator?”
