Summary
The trouble with Waterdeep was exactly what Gale had glibly told Shadowheart: that he knew with perfect clarity what he was returning to.
The sum of his life had been the sum of his dreams. That was all his home amounted to – an effigy to all the ideas that had ruined him. The shrine-to-be for all the hopes that had yet to sour. Facing up to it now left a pit at the bottom of his stomach.
or; Gale returns home and is faced with the harrowing challenge of figuring out his life and his new relationship, both of which are wrapped in difficult history

Summary
That part was easy. Imagining purity, imagining walking into a new life clean, imagining answering the pain of loss with losing even the reason to care. The hard part came with the world outside of his mind and all the rules that had to be followed. He had to survive and to take joy from living. Any long term plans had to be tossed aside to keep the fire burning in the present.
Alternatively; the long and turbulent process of relationships, distance and Astarion getting his undeath un-done. With complications

Summary
In fact, when Jaheira had first brought him over on a playdate and then brought him over the second time to sheepishly return the silverware and random clutter Astarion had stolen, Gale had resolutely decided to not like this new intrusion to their neighbourhood.
But it was like trying to avoid chickenpox. He thought he had been doing so well and then suddenly the Astarion-liking was all over him like a sea of itchy bumps and regardless of how much it drove him out of his mind sometimes, he couldn’t seem to get rid of it. Besides, an itch was annoying but scratching the itch was an euphoria almost worth having it in the first place. Gale was really starting to confuse his metaphors.alternatively: lonely teen Gale plays D&D, makes new friends, contemplates changes and goes trick or treating

Summary
“If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, who would it be?” He read. “If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30 year old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want? Alright, Gale, what is this? Are you making me take a personality quiz?”
“Nothing of the sort. I found these in a book a few years ago. They’re called the thirty-six questions to fall in love.” Suddenly, he felt oddly self-conscious. He cleared his throat. “I just thought… You offered me something cheap and untrue and I took you up on it. I wanted an escape and that wasn’t fair either. But if you meant what you said and if you want something real, we can start here. With the truth, even if it’s ugly.”or: after Astarion confesses the motivations behind his seduction, Gale wrestles with his own conflicted feelings and tries to find a way to make things work

Summary
The attendant fixes his spectacles. His moustache twitches with irritation.
“My dear Madame, please keep an inside voice. I assure you they have a fair reason to assume that. Very fair, indeed. You see, Mr. Dekarios has been found to be behind the deity known as Mahkloompah. This new God has been preached about by some alarmingly zealous Kuo-Toa and as it often happens with religious affairs, innocent blood has been spilled. But alas, a Kuo-Toa deity is not, in the eyes of the law, a real God and any crimes committed by his apostles are reflected solely on the individual behind the charade. In addition, the Kuo-Toa are protected by law pertaining to the sovereignty of arcane-touched species.”Or: Gale Mahkloompahs too close to the sun, Morena and Astarion embark on a rescue mission

“This is a terrible book.”
“Isn’t it?” Astarion snickers, delighted.
“Where did you even find this?”
“Mason’s Guild, I told you. Wait, here, let me.” He’s suddenly behind Gale, pulling the book from his hands. He clears his throat.
“Now, where can you catch eels? Bloody everywhere! From Neverwinter to Elturel to Calimport - you can find an eel. But where do they breed? And how?” He drops his voice conspirationaly and wiggles his brows.or: Gale has a terrible time in the Shadowcursed Lands. Astarion attempts an intervention

Summary
“That Orb in your chest,” Elminster says finally, voice so thick with purpose that Gale snaps out of his self-deprecation. For the first time in months, his mind feels capable of focus. “Is made of Karsite Weave. Mystra will not help because it is a danger to her very existence.”
“I… didn’t know. I swear! I swear I had no idea, Elminster, you have to tell her! I thought – I was told – it was a part of her. I would never–”
Elminster raises a hand.
“Peace. Do not worry about that now, my boy, and listen to me. In Baldur’s Gate there is a wizard by the name of Lorroakan. Some years ago, he came into possession of a book called The Annals of Karsus. In it, Karsus writes about what he refers to as the Regalia of Karsus – a Crown, a Sceptre and an Orb.”or; Gale travels to Baldur's Gate early, runs into a Hag and gets turned into a cat
