Summary
As a security officer, Sasha did not particularly enjoy having someone so close to the Consul actively trying to make themselves more dangerous. They were, however, fairly sure that Gale would have their head if they just went to January and told him to stop it, so now it fell to Sasha to try and figure out why January wanted to be massively stronger than everybody else even while wearing a cage, and try to come up with some practical reason for him not to do that.

It was funny, in a dismal sort of way, that they had slept better when Aubrey was tormenting them. River had been alone in their own bed in Songshu for the past two weeks, and it had been terrible.
Their body kept half-expecting to be jumped on, and River would tense up, or their heart would start racing, or they’d have to throw the blankets off their throat so they’d stop feeling Aubrey’s hands.
And then they would be lying in their bed thinking of Aubrey, which would make them think of January, and then it would be morning and River would have been awake all night.
