Or, following a deadly plague in Cintra that claims the lives of the reigning monarchs, Jaskier is tasked with taking care of the young Cintran princess, at least until it is safe for her to return home to claim her throne.
Will he be able to successfully raise the young girl, despite his misgivings about his ability to do such a thing? Or will his doubts win out, especially once they meet up with a certain reticent witcher, who not so long ago wished him dead and then abandoned him without a word in the middle of the night? Only time, he supposes, will tell.

But Yennefer did not come to Bremervoord alone, and her handsome (if rather arrogant) friend watches Jaskier’s every step with fascination. In no time at all Jaskier suddenly finds himself attempting a complex juggling act between his family’s fate and his own wayward heart.

“Well here goes nothing,” Jaskier sighs to no one in particular as he walks through the forest, flinching each time his foot lands on a bone.
He breathed in deeply, his hands trembling with the stupidity of what he was about to do. Jaskier had done some stupid things in his time but walking into the Brokilon Forest was by far the most idiotic thing the bard had ever done.
But he knew what he was getting into when Yen told him where Geralt was taken following the disastrous battle at Thanedd. He knew what he had to do.
He wasn’t going to leave Geralt here alone. Not when they had only just become something more than friends. Not when Geralt had asked him to help raise Ciri.
This was the first step towards proving that he deserved that honor. That he was deserving of Geralt and everything that came with him. His love. His child.
Jaskier could do this. For Ciri and for Geralt.
