Chapter 1
Who is Finney Blake?
Hawkins, a small town in Indiana. It's a place where everyone knows everyone. A place where nothing interesting ever happened or at least it was. It all changed three almost four years ago, with the disappearance of Will Byers and the appearance of one strange little girl with superpowers.
This isn't quite just their story, though, this is the story of a kid that was dragged into it by accident and stayed to help. This is about a boy named Finney Blake or as Hawkins knows him, Steve Harrington.
Hawkins High school stands tall and proud as the day it was built. The parking lot full of high schoolers joking around after the school day, a group of teens in shirts that read hellfire, a group of nerdy outcasts waiting for their friends stood near the school.
A car pulling into the parking lot draws their attention and most of the parking lot's attention. It was a black SUV style car, something like what you would see rich kids driving in big cities. The car stops and out steps four teens slash young adults. Out of the back two doors, steps two teens, there was a sort of buff, blonde, curly haired boy and a short, but skinny brown haired boy. Out of the passenger side door steps, a handsome asian kid with a bright smile. And then out of the driver's side steps a longer hair blonde teen that looked like the lead singer of a metal band.
The blonde was glaring back at the crowd, staring like he was searching the crowd for something. His eyes landed on the group of Hellfire club members, a look of determination crossed his face. The group moves like one striding towards the group on a mission. The Hellfire club member tenses waiting for a fight when the group reaches them. But instead of the fight the tough blonde asks a simple question.
“Where can we find Finney Blake?”
The parking lot is silent and the group of Dnd players are taken back by the question.
“Who is Finney Blake?” One of the asked and the Asian boy turns to the blonde with a look of realization on his face.
“He goes by Steve here, remember?” He tells the blonde who just rolls his eyes and growls in annoyance.
“ What he said, we're looking for Steve Harrington.” He says gruffly turning back to the Hellfire club who goes on defense at that question.
“ What do you want with Steve?” One of them then asked stepping in front of the group, trying to make himself appear bigger. The rest of the group are glaring ready for trouble.
“ Whoa, we don't want anything bad.” The small brown haired teen says putting his hands out in a we mean no harm way as he steps closer.
“ We are old friends and we have news for him.” The asian kid says a bright smile, still stretching across his face before the others can say another word. A sheriff's car races into the parking lot when he's parked him, and a woman rushes into the school before either group knows what's happening.
Hopper's pov
I was at work when we got the call from the high school. Steve and Eddie were in the principal's office for defending a freshman from the basketball players. Eddie really wasn't my responsibility at least by blood or law same as Steve but ever since that spring break from hell Joyce and I have been keeping an eye on all of the kids Will, Mike, Lucas, Dustin,El, Nancy, Johnathon, Robin, Steve, Eddie, and Max who after a close call was just fine.
Steve had run to check on Dustin and Eddie and had carried Eddie, holding his insides in, into the hospital. After he made sure Eddie was being treated he had collapsed himself from his own bat bites. They both were rushed into surgery and had only just a few weeks ago been completely cleared by doctors.
Joyce, who I picked up on the way to the school, pulled into the parking lot and rushed inside. Once we made it to the principal's office outside we saw Steve and Eddie sitting on a bench beside a small boy with glasses. Joyce rushed over to them, fretting over the two of them.
“Hey kiddos.” I said and they turned to look at me.
Steve had a black eye forming and a busted lip and Eddie's right side of his face was bruised a black eye already formed. Joyce was turning Eddie's head to assess the damage.
Steve looked relieved but before he could say anything the door opened and a couple stepped out. They looked surprised to see me but were clearly angry. The woman was small with brown hair and glasses. The man was taller and had darker brown hair. It was the Millers, who had moved to town recently.
Mrs. Miller steps forward quickly toward me.
“ We will just see what the Chief here thinks about you failing to do anything about the obvious bullying and physical assault on our son.” She states and the principal sputters, getting red in the face.
“ I thought we had come to an agreement weeks ago when one of them nearly put one of my boys back into the hospital after just getting out.” I said making my displeasure known.
After Steve and Eddie had returned to school after getting out of the hospital. Tommy and the other basketball players had tried picking on Eddie and Steve had stepped in getting hit in the face and fell busting some of his stitches.
“Mr Harrington and Mr Munson shouldn't have been fighting regardless.” The principal spits out.
“You mean to tell me you want to punish the kids that were trying to stop the ones bullying a 14 year old. The very same bullies that we've had a problem with since the boys were freshman themselves.” I challenged and the principal shifted uncontrollably.
“I suppose I will let them off with a warning and I will make sure the other boys are properly punished and know what will happen if it happens again.” He said reluctantly.
“See that you do. They are 17 and are almost adults. I could have them charged as adults.” I threatened and although he looked like he had swallowed a lemon the principal agreed.
I turned back to the Millers who looked relieved and grateful.
“Go ahead and take your son to get checked out. Make sure to get copies. If they don't stop, I'll make sure they get charged.” I told them. Mr. Miller thanked me and shook my hand. Then he turned to Steve and Eddie thanking them for standing up for his boy.
Their son Jack gave the two a small smile and a thank you.
“ You're welcome. I know what it's like to be picked on.” Steve said and Eddie nodded and said that if anyone gives him to find someone with a Hellfire shirt and they would help. The kid thanks the boys and he and his parents leave.
“Alright let's get you two to the hospital. Need to make sure you don't have concussions.” I said and they both made a face.
“You both have taken way too many blows to the head in the last year.” Joyce tells them and I nod.
“Alright Hop but we need to get our stuff out of our locker.” Eddie says as he stands helping Steve stand up.
“Alright we will meet you in the parking lot. Don't take too long.” I told them and watched as they headed down the hall to the lockers. I gave Joyce a nod and we headed to the exit.
