Summary
Robin Arellano was a fighter.
He never stepped down, always ready to protect himself and the people he cared about. Every fight was a testament to his strength.
That was, until he and Finney were taken by The Grabber.
In the early days of their captivity, Robin maintained his physical and mental strength, refusing to let their kidnapper get one over on him. He took every punishment like it was nothing, always ready for the next opportunity to catch The Grabber off guard to try to fight their way out and protect Finney. However, as the days went on and desperation set in, Robin faltered. He froze when it counted most, leaving Finney to fight their way out and save both of their lives.
Now that they were free, Robin didn’t recognize himself. He was no longer the strong person he’d taken pride in; he was a shell of himself, the sustained injuries constant reminders of his shortcomings.
Robin hoped time would heal his wounds and that he could become the person he once was. But, if time was meant to heal all wounds, then why was The Grabber still present in their nightmares and why was Finney convinced that the phones were still ringing?

Summary
Robin Arellano survives the basement and both him and Finney make it out of that hellish place.
But they’re still not free.
Both of them now have to deal with trauma of what happened down there, trying to keep their heads above water while everyone else swims along easily. Finney fears he’ll never be able to shake off the basement, and that he’ll end up like his father. And Robin worries he won’t be able to protect his little brother forever, he can barely protect himself.
Robin and Finney are broken and splintered like the reflection of shattered mirror, but maybe, if they let other people help them, they can glue themselves back together again.

Three years ago, Finney made it out.
He was the survivor of The Grabber, the only victim to make it out and have a second chance at life. It’s been three years, and despite a lot of healing, Finney still hasn’t been able to leave the memories behind.
The world is starting to expect more of him now that he’s on the verge of adulthood and there are more decisions to make. Between college, his progressing relationship, and his ongoing recovery that is constantly hitting speed bumps, nothing is going how he thought it would after three years.
Finney wants to move on, to finally leave the past in the past, but his neighborhood is a constant reminder of everything that he’s fought so hard to heal from. He knows he needs to find a way to move forward, but he doesn’t know what path is the one that will finally allow him to put his past to rest.

Finney Blake has amnesia. Stuck with a man whose name he never learned despite learning the man’s body, it's most all he remembers, save for bits and pieces. He knew he had a sister at one point, but he couldn't think of her name or where she was now. Up until recently, that's been all he's known. Now, though, things seem to be trying to turn upside-down when he starts having dreams and hearing phones.
Gwen hasn't seen her brother in four years. The whole of everyone around her seems to think he’s dead, but she's never truly given up the hope that one day he would come back and be her brother again. This sort of thinking gets her into all sorts of trouble when she acts on it, but thankfully, Robin Arellano decided to take Finn’s place. Though, she doesn't know how she feels about it.
OR : Essentially a what-if AU. Gwen doesn't have dreams and Finney doesn't get calls until well after they really need them. Robin lives AU too. -

It happened quickly, the kind of quick that you think is impossible until you live it. You hear about abductions, about parents turning away for a split-second and their children disappearing into thin air, and you think they must be justifying their own neglect. Surely, they must have not been watching close enough if someone could steal their kid out from under their nose. Of the two of them, Finney is sure his dad would be glad to see him go. Robin has his mom and his uncle, and he stands tall and stubborn and proud in a way that Finney thinks means he's never gotten hit by someone who was supposed to protect him. He doesn't resent Robin for that. The idea of someone hurting Robin the way his dad hurts Gwen makes Finney see red.

Finney works in a small bookstore. He’s quiet, observant, full of routines: he opens the shop at 7:45, arranges the old books, lights a scented candle, and writes little notes for the customers.
Robin works right across the street in a loud, chaotic mechanic’s workshop. He’s impulsive, his hands always covered in grease, headphones hanging from his neck, and an energy that contrasts with everything Finney is.
Every day, without fail, Robin crosses the street at 9:12 in the morning to buy a coffee from the bookstore, which they sell as an additional service. He always arrives soaked, because he never remembers to bring an umbrella.
Until one day it rains so hard that Finney, without thinking, runs out with an umbrella and holds it over his head.
That simple gesture changes everything.
Will they be able to learn to walk under the same umbrella… even when it stops raining?

He was the survivor, the one to stop The Grabber, the one who went home. Despite this, he doesn’t know how to adjust to his second chance at life and most days he feels like he never really left.
Nothing is predictable anymore.
The phones still ring, the ghosts of the other victims keep showing up, and Finney has to figure out how to navigate being a high school student. Not to mention that Robin, his only friend, has been acting a little different since Finney came home.
The path forward feels so jagged and blurry; Finney has no idea what he’s supposed to do in order to feel normal again and fears being stuck as the person he became in his captivity. Even with the blurred and unknown path, Finney feels he owes it to the other victims to push on and hopes that forward movement will someday make the sounds of the past finally fall quiet.
