Summary
Their group had no plans on leaving; the closest being Mike just talking about going to Portland one day— everyone knew he was too broke to actually move out there. Hawkins had nothing but bad memories for him and Will; between his father, Mike’s father, and kids at school giving him their usual lazy, bigoted insults, there was nothing truly tying him here. Mike can’t help but think things would’ve been different if Will had just let him in.

Mike is completely and utterly whipped for Will but doesn’t know it. He becomes a punk and gets out of his hometown, “coincidentally” right next to the Toronto School of Arts.
