Jemma says “Me” just as Fitz says “What? No one,” gathering his papers to his chest. He didn’t hear Mack come in, and he doesn’t want him here, not if he’s going to think Fitz is just as much of a disaster as everyone’s been saying.
Mack shrugs, still pretending like Fitz is normal. “Yeah, you like talking to yourself. It’s cool. Lots of people do. You know, I like singing in the shower.” He gestures loosely with his hand and Jemma smiles. “Yeah, I know it’s not really the same thing, but I wouldn’t want anyone to hear it.”
Jemma laughs with Mack, but all Fitz can think is Then why are you telling me?
or, right when Fitz is believing he's not meant for other people anymore, Mack enters his life.

She’s gotten so used to fighting for her life every moment of each day that she’s terrified of letting anyone see her weak. Bathing makes her vulnerable. And she’s exhausted, the part of her brain no longer in fight or flight mode coming to terms with realising the base is a safe space – somewhere that she will actually be able to sleep for the first time in ages. But that doesn’t make her anymore keen on having anyone see her in such a state. She doesn’t feel safe around any of them – no one except Fitz.
