Summary
Robin pauses for a long moment, thinking maybe her and Steve's insane plans to get Mike and Will together didn't encompass this. This internalised struggle, one she thinks Will is still having even after he came out to her a few months before, after Vecna. The struggle she sees in Mike's eyes here, tonight, as he works up all of his courage to ask those seven words. And yeah, maybe he's just curious, maybe he just wants to make conversation. But from Robin's point of view, it sure as hell looks like he wants to know for a reason.
Robin comes out to Mike on a long drive, hoping to encourage him to open up to Will.

Summary
"I definitely screwed everything up,” he says quietly, the realisation sinking further into his stomach. “I took - I took his hand, in the movie theatre, and then I thought we had, like, a moment, or something, but then he panicked and ran off and then I panicked and ran off and had an anxiety attack or whatever.” It suddenly occurs to Mike that these two don’t know the whole deal. “I like him,” he blurts out, the words swelling inside his heart. It’s the first time he’s said it out loud, and it feels like a promise. Like maybe someday, he'll be able to say it to Will. To the world. “I - I like him. Just. Y’know, in case you were wondering what the hell I’m talking about. I like Will Byers."

Summary
They all kind of bump awkwardly into a line, and Will ends up with his hands on Mike's waist and El's on his. He remembers to stick Mike's name tag back on his jacket. Then there's photos with just the guys, hands clasped below their belts, and then Max and El get photos of the two of them. Then it's Lucas and Max, who are smiling like everything's fine, and El jumps into Dustin's arms for their photo, and then Will and Mike have to stand with their arms looped around each other and grin at Jonathan while he snaps a picture. And Mike's hand brushes against the nape of Will's neck, feather-soft, and Will kind of goes weak in the knees. Hopper comes home halfway through the girl's photos, so Jonathan snaps a few of their dad in his work clothes with El and Max in their gowns.
