Simon Dark.”Hood silently dropped down from the fire escape of the building he’d been perched on, but scuffed his boots loudly enough to be audible as he approached. Two kids flinched, one dropped her end of the rope, the fourth one tensed, but all of them relaxed a little when they saw it was him.
“‘Sup, Hood,” one of the boys said. He pulled his hands out of his pockets and edged backward to give Hood some room as he approached. Smart kid.
“Hey.”
The one girl fiddled with her hands. “D’you need somethin’?”
Hood shook his head. “Not right now. Curious about your little rhyme, though.”

The man nodded and held out a gloved hand. “I do. Man-to-man promise.”
Kenny hesitantly reached forward to hold the huge hand. It was warm.

“Under these circumstances, yeah,” the guy said primly. “I've got connections, little bird, and I've dealt with him before, much to my Bruce's annoyance.”
Bruce pulled the Cowl off with a glare. “Dr. Fate is not someone you can just call at your whim.”
A snort came from the helmet. “He is if I'm at risk of collapsing the multiverse. Now, y’gonna let me use your fancy-ass supercomputer to call the Justice League, or do I have'ta call Constantine?”
Bruce looked like he'd bitten into a lemon. “We'll take the Zeta.”

Further leaning into the impression of a dangerous creature, Hood leans forward like a predatory cat. The way he moves is slow and dangerous, but there's a jagged unsteadiness about his movements that makes him seem more unhinged than calculating. Whatever he's hung up on, it has him really twitchy, and Dick takes a step backwards. He wants to figure out what's wrong, obviously, but he also doesn't want to be on the receiving end of whatever rage bubbles beneath Red Hood's skin. Nightwing has seen the remains of child traffickers caught working in the Alley, and he'd like to keep all his limbs where they are, thanks.
“Hood?”
The Red Hood fucking flinches. “I said don't come any fucking closer to me! I'll kill you!”

The Alley's new leader was gargantuan, filling doorways and built in a way most people weren't, but in exchange, he should be slower to compensate for his weight and mass.
He was not.
In fact, he was faster than should be humanly possible – quicker than most of the Bats, even, usually.
Sure, Simon Dark could teleport and was strong enough to garrote a head off, but every few weeks a video resurfaced on local rat forums that showed shaky footage of Hood, with a visibly broken leg, grabbing the Bat's cape near his shoulder and hurling him off a roof one-handed.
That was not the sort of guy to underestimate.
