Summary
Dick glanced around, eyes landing on the neighboring cell. He could barely make out the figure inside, curled up into a ball on the other side of the cell.
“Hello?” Dick asked quietly, and before he could even register it, his roommate was pressed against the bars. The child, a vampire, was snarling and screeching at him, arms wedged through the bars as he tried to grab at Dick.

Summary
Bruce looked up when Tim let out a loud laugh—
—then he flinched back at the stabbing pain that erupted through his forearm. His gaze shot down, a grimace spreading across his face as he stared at the back of Damians' head.
“Dick.” He said, tone kept steady even as Damian began to slurp down blood, head bobbing, ripping at Bruce’s skin.
Dick looked up, “What’s up—” the smile on Dick’s face fell, a look of horror painting across it. He jumped up, knee cracking into the coffee table as he dropped in front of Bruce.
“Oh my god!” Dick shouted, hands uselessly hovering over Damian, “Let go! Damian! Let go!”

Summary
Half an hour later, Tim's focus was back on Damian when the once calm breathing coming from the vampire sharpened. Tim watched as Damian’s nose twitched a few times, taking in a few sharp breaths. Tim sat up, setting his book down.
Was Damian having a nightmare?
Damian then took a long, deep breath, nostrils flaring, and before Tim could stand to try and wake him, Damian’s eyes popped open, and he was launching himself out of the chair and running out of the room.
“What the hell—!” Tim yelped out.

Summary
Bruce would know, he had babysat many times and by far getting Damian to sleep was the hardest part. Bruce swiped to accept the call, but before he could get a word in, he was cut off by a loud sob.
“Dick?!” Bruce asked frantically.
“Daddy’s dead!’ Damian wailed out in response, loud hiccups and sobs grating over the receiver, “Papa, Dad won’t wake up!”
Bruce felt ice rush through his veins, his heart dropping so hard it felt like it might not start again. He sat up out of bed and swung his legs onto the floor, slamming his bedroom door open and sprinting out of his bedroom towards the cave.
“Damian? What happened to Dick?”

Summary
Dick was now, after over a year of having the three-year-old, very familiar with the variety of words or noises that Damian made. He was also very, very aware that the lack of them, especially the now stifling silence filling the room, was never a good thing. Dick stood up, grimacing at his cracking knees.
“Damian?” he called out, “You good, buddy?”
When there was no response, Dick sucked in a breath, quickly walking down the hallway to peer into Damian’s bedroom.
“Damian?”
Dick stared into the empty bedroom, panic slowly growing before he heard a very wet-sounding splat coming from the master bathroom.

Summary
As Dick walked, he slipped his jacket off, bundling it up in his arms, and began loosening his tie. When Dick pushed his cracked bedroom door open, he froze, a smile slowly growing on his face as his eyes fell onto his bed.
Damian was curled up, blankets pulled over his shoulders and bunched in his arms, which were tightly curled against his chest. He was breathing softly, mouth partly opened, his fangs just barely peeking out every time Damian exhaled.

Summary
After quietly walking down the hall, Dick opened the door slowly, peering inside. His heart stopped for just a second at the empty bed; blankets shoved to the side. Before he could truly panic, however, Dick quickly turned towards the window across the room, where Damian was standing on his toes, the upper half of his body hidden by the curtains he had moved behind.
“Hey, buddy? What are we doing?” Dick asked, walking forward and carefully grabbing the edge of the curtain, pulling it back until the rest of Damian was visible. Damian was staring out the window, face inches from the glass, and both palms pressed flat against it, fingers twitching minutely. Outside, snow was gently dropping from the sky, filling the ground below.

Summary
Damian tilted his head, “Why don’t we do that?”
Dick glanced over as he dropped down onto the couch, one arm raising so Damian could sit down beside him before resting it on top of Damian, pulling him closer, “Do what?”
“Turn humans. Every other coven has a ton of members. We have, well, us. You and me. I mean, I know the Queen Coven has over ten vampires.”
Dick had once had that too.
Well, kind of.
His “coven” had been all human, no instincts to guide them and their behaviors, just whatever thought or emotion bubbled into those small brains of theirs.

Summary
Just as he started explaining in detail why the first guy had thrown a punch, Dick was jostled by Damian roughly shoving two fingers into his side, frowning.
“You’re in my seat,” he said sternly, pulling his hand away and crossing his arms.
Dick paused, looking down at his brother with a confused smile, a hand reaching over to briefly rub at where Damian’s fingers had been.
“Don’t think so, bud,” Dick said, ruffling Damian’s hair until Damian shoved his hand away, “I was here first. Maybe if you showed up on time.”
While Bruce only had a view of half of his youngest son’s face, he could see Damian’s frown widen, nose scrunching up slightly.
“I always sit there. It's my seat!”

Summary
Dick had never really had a pet. Never felt much need for one, though he could see why others liked them and had more than was probably healthy. Ace was, of course, around when he still lived with Bruce, but Ace was Bruce’s dog; all Dick did was play with him occasionally.
Yet here he was, cat carrier in hand because a certain someone had suddenly become obsessed.
Damian would be three soon, and for the past few months had become completely infatuated with the little creatures. Every morning, as the sun rose and Dick secured Damian’s curtains to block it out, Damian picked out the same storybook that featured a black cat with yellow eyes. And every time, Damian would sit against Dick, smile on his face, and point a finger towards the various drawings of the cat and blabber on about the cat.

Summary
"Is Damian with you?" Tim asked the second Dick picked up.
Dick could hear that he sounded almost out of breath, bordering on hysterical.
"No? Why?" Dick felt his stomach start to sink, dropping the rest of the way when Tim made a strangled noise before sucking in a breath to answer.
"We can't find him. I—We thought he had just been sleeping. He didn't show for breakfast or lunch, but we figured he was napping! He's been sleeping so much! But he didn't come down for dinner, and when Bruce went to get him, he couldn't find him—We can't find him!"

Summary
"Do you think this is it?" Damian asked quietly.
"What?"
"This body. That I'll stay like this." Damian said.
Dick didn't speak, not sure what to say. For years, every time it came up, Dick had shoved it back down before it could fully settle in. Every thought about Damian's unchanging body had always spiraled back to the same awful realization: Dick was never going to get to watch him grow up.
But sitting there now with Damian curled against him, voice small and frightened, Dick felt horribly selfish for it. Because while Dick mourned a future he might lose, Damian was the one who would be trapped inside it, alone.

Summary
"Yup," Dick popped, striding past Tim, ruffling his hair, and then stopping at the door, "I'll be back in a few hours, okay?"
"We'll be here," Tim called, waiting for the door to shut and the lock to click into place before turning to Damian, who was once again standing, seal in hand, staring blankly over at Tim.
Tim stared back, watching as Damian turned his head to face the door Dick had just stepped out of before his eyes returned to Tim. For a few seconds, Tim began to prepare for Damian to start crying.
Instead, Damian continued to stare at Tim.

Summary
Slowly, Damian turned himself onto his side, peering over at Richard, who had taken a few feet into his room, a wide smile on his face.
"Yes, Richard?"
"It's breakfast time!"
Damian couldn't help but flinch slightly at the louder-than-necessary voice Richard was using, but nonetheless, he pushed himself up on his elbows to frown at his brother.

Summary
"It's beautiful," Damian murmured, fingers gently brushing against the blue petals, "A Haberlea flower, correct?"
Jon nodded, arms wrapping around Damian's shoulders.
"Yes, it was near Greece, and I wanted to stop by."
Damian once again just hummed, leaning back into Jon's hold. While Damian fiddled with the flower, trying to clean up the tangled roots, Jon glanced around the greenhouse. What had started as a small hobby Damian wanted to pick up centuries ago had turned into a full-scale operation. The greenhouse itself had been expanded numerous times, with the last section Jon and Damian had built on already nearly full.
While Damian had known very little about gardening when he first decided to pick up the hobby, centuries of study had a way of correcting that. Jon wasn't entirely sure what plants Damian hadn't managed to collect over the years. Damian's plant collection spanned continents, with two of his plants being extinct outside the glass walls currently surrounding them, kept safely near the back.

Summary
"Bruce!" Rang out from down the hallway in Jason's baritone voice, "Do you have that file of—"
"Jay!"
"Aw, shit."
Bruce turned the corner, a smile tugging at his lips when he laid eyes on the scene in front of him.
Jason was standing still in the hall, helmet dangling from one hand and a thick folder grasped in the other, staring down at the small vampire who had latched onto his pant leg with a defeated look. Beside the pair, Dick was leaning against the wall, lightly teasing Jason.
Bruce, along with everyone else in the manor, had no idea what had started Damian's obsession with Jason. From the very first time Jason and Damian had come into contact, like a moth to a flame, Damian could be found within a foot of Jason, always trying his hardest to be held or to just cling to him.

Summary
Damian's nose twitched, and his ears strained as he scraped the wooden floor with his nails.
He could smell dust, old blood, and something that was tugging at something buried deep inside him, but Damian couldn't place anything, his stomach eating itself alive.
Damian scrambled back to his feet once again and began to pace. When the chain caught him, he wheeled around to walk in the other direction. As he walked around again, Damian let out a frustrated screech when the chain prevented him from continuing.

Summary
Damian wasn't sure if it was the cold of the refrigerator or the whistle of the kettle that seemed to fully wake his dad up, but either way, by the time Damian was being handed his mug, his dad was wide awake, already chattering on about the night ahead.
Damian pulled his head back to look down the hallway toward the kitchen before leaning forward again, looking back at his sleeping dad.
…Breakfast couldn't be that hard to make on his own. Damian knew where everything was and what to do. Well, Damian didn't know how the kettle worked, but there were other ways to warm water; he'd seen his uncle do it before.

Summary
Within a week's time, the next lunar eclipse would be taking place, and Damian would finally be able to complete the ritual needed for him to transform into a bat. He'd been absolutely ecstatic once Bruce had explained to him that after numerous years of watching from the balcony as the rest of the family took off into the night sky, he'd soon be able to join them. And now that the eclipse was fast approaching, it seemed to be the only thing on Bruce's youngest son's mind.
Damian would talk the ear off anyone willing to listen, as well as anyone unwilling. The second he was awake, he was jabbering on about how he'd be flying alongside the coven, going on adventures, and asking every question imaginable while speaking around mouthfuls of blood during breakfast.
