The boy let go of his hand. "Tt. It wasn't difficult. You're just incompetent."
Duke blinked.
"As I was saying, I need your assistance. And your last name."
"Thomas... I'm Duke Thomas."
Damian nodded, as if the sight of him dissolved into pure light, a secret Duke had been trying to hide for months, was completely normal.
"Fine, Thomas. Follow me."

"Okay," Damian said slowly. Duke met the most indifferent look anyone had ever given him. "I didn't want it."
"You don't want my soul? Then... why did you make a deal with me?"

"Okay" Jason ran a hand through his hair, considering his words. "What do we do?"
"I don't know" Tim admitted. "I'm not sure there's anything we can do. Damian is damned but he is also who he is. You can't save him."
For a moment, Jason seemed distant. It didn't last long. He hugged Tim and rested his head on his shoulder. "He's like us, even though he's biologically Bruce. We'll have to protect him, Tim. He'll only have us, in the end."

"They're avoiding me because they're growing up and they don't need me. I adopted Dick and he almost didn't have a choice. It was me or the system and you know how bad it is for Incubi. And Cassandra was a living weapon. It's not like she could have gone to a normal, commercial-type family."
A flash of anger crossed Clark's face.

Tim grabbed a glass of non-alcoholic champagne as his parents walked away with a new client. Tim barely watched them leave (they were as unimportant to him as he was to them). Tonight, his target was clear: the Wayne family.
Bruce Wayne smiled as he proposed a toast to his new adopted daughter: Cassandra Wayne. Beside him, his eldest son Richard (Dick) Grayson looked like he stepped out of a commercial. Everyone knew Dick was a demon, but Tim could see through them all. It wasn't hard, he just had to think a little.
Tim had a name for that: an outlier. An abnormal, aberrant statistical value that is clearly outside the norm of observations.
All Waynes were demons. And Tim Drake would find out why.

Batman said something. Jason only heard the words "blood" and "death."
He was done for. He couldn't breathe.
Dying really hurt.

"Again?""I'm not adopting him!" Bruce protested. "He was bleeding! And he stole my tires. I couldn't find his mother."
"You kidnapped a new sibling?" Dick looked out. He saw the Pooka and ran toward Bruce. "You're exuding a lot of... protection, B."

Or, like in every universe, Jason steals the tires of the Batmobile, but in this universe, the tires have their revenge. Dick doesn't quite understand what's going on, but this little Pooka is adorable and needs to see The Greatest Showman. It'll work.
The universe hit Bruce too hard. This is not a metaphor. Please, Jason, put that bar down.
