Danny's been High King for years now. More than half his life. His parents? Reformed. His arch nemesis? Retired. The GIW? Still there, but not much of a threat anymore. Until someone got a lucky shot with a brand new, and extra nasty weapon that left Danny fighting not to just retreat into his core.
Good thing Frostbite told him about a way to condense himself to save energy and heal. Sure, making himself shrink is a little weird, but as long as it gets the job done, right? A quick portal jump and he'll be home and can just rest and relax until he's strong enough to go back to normal.
...Maybe he jumped a little too far. Because he's never heard of this Gotham place, and who the heck is Batman? Wait, they've got superheros here?! (And they're cute. Oh no.)

Danny paused to look up at the night sky. There weren’t many stars visible inside the city, and the sky was partially overcast. The moon was the only thing to be seen, and it was struggling weakly from behind a cloud.
He usually liked looking up to the night sky in times of trouble even though there wasn’t much to see. It was oddly comforting to be reminded that his mistakes and worries were completely insignificant to such a vast universe.
Except, this time as he saw the moon peeking out through the clouds, shedding a few weak silver rays down on the earth, a cold thrill of terror ran down his spine. Because as he stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, a second set of footsteps stopped, as well, just a second out of sync with his.

Many ghosts had even approached him with requests for aid over the years, ranging from territory disputes to wanting help locating a lost item. But in the more than two centuries since his official coronation, he’d never had a request of this magnitude. Neither in scope, or personal favor.
No, instead of the usual parade of never ending favor-seekers (or let’s be honest, ass kissers) during his daily court, he’d been approached by a young, newly dead couple that clutched one another's' hands tightly as they drifted over to him. They bowed respectfully, as was custom, before the husband blurted out something that had the whole of the normally chatty court fall silent.
