It's up to Keralis and Xisuma to convince Grian that the Christmas magic and Grian's own belief will make sure that Santa will visit once he's asleep, and that they will be having a happy Christmas.

"So," Xisuma cleared his throat, "What're you doing out so late?" He asked with a small tilt of his head, so so kindly.
Grian felt his throat tighten, "My house is loud." He mumbled, taking another sip of tea. It was very very pleasantly warm going down his throat and settling in his stomach. Very pleasant.
"Loud?"
Grian didn't like this seat. He...he...
Grian sniffed and slipped out, looking up at Xisuma with massive blue eyes, "Can I have a hug?"
He wanted a hug. So so so so so so badly. He wanted a hug. He wanted so much.
He could see Xisuma startle, just a little, before lowering his mug to the table and opening up his arms, "Yeah, yes of course...c'mere."
Grian wasted no time and crawled into the man's lap, curling into the tightest ball that he possibly could and tucking his head under Xisuma's chin.
He felt tiny.

A bunch of the other kids were all scattered around, the adults were talking in hushed voices by the main entrance. The room was big and echoey, Pearl thought it was fun when she would shout across to other kids, ask them to come and play. Some of the adults came and played with them, sometimes, too, adults Pearl never really recalled the names of, or maybe it was because some of them didn't give their names? She wasn't sure.
