Christmas party, '99.
Marty's drunk and needy and Rust is committed, as ever, to bearing witness.
"Not getting laid like I used to," Marty says, mournful. "'S the hair line. I know it."
"Sure," Rust says, rather than getting into any of that. "Maybe. Fuck. Who knows anything?"
"Nobody likes a bald man," Marty says.
Rust suddenly notices his cigarette's burnt to nearly nothing and he notices this only because he desperately wants to take a long drag of it. He fumbles with his lighter, fumbles towards a fresh smoke, hands long practiced and yet. "Could grow a beard," he says.
"No," Marty says. "Loses the jaw."
"Uh huh," Rust says, and he concentrates very hard on smoking.
"Best feature," Marty says. He looks at Rust intently. "The jaw."
Rust waits a beat.
"'Cept for the huge dick," Marty says, just as expected.
