If anyone here should be a narrator it should have been Luke. Luke wasn’t a kid. He wasn’t new to this demi-god thing. He was-
“The snake haired ladies were starting to annoy Percy. They should have three days ago when he dropped a crate of bowling balls on them at Napa Bargain Mart. They should have died two days ago when he ran them over with a police car in Martinez. They definitely should have died this morning when he cut off their heads in Tidden Park. No matter how many times Percy killed them and watched them crumble to powder, they just kept reforming like large evil dust bunnies.
The description of crumble to powder was familiar. “They’re like Mrs.Dodds,” Percy said out loud. He felt cold because unlike Mrs.Dodds they didn’t stay dead. How was his future self managing to keep killing them? Percy managed to kill Mrs.Dodds out of sheer luck and with Mr.Brunner having given him a pen that wasn’t just a pen.
“They’re monsters like Mrs.Dodds.” Grover began to explain and Percy should be thankful for Grover giving him answers but Percy couldn’t help but feel a bit angry.
“So you admit there was a Mrs.Dodds.”
Grover looked as though Percy had kicked him in the ribs.

When the child arrived his black hair was tousled and messy. He lay sleeping in the fallen needles of the pine tree that stood above him.
The boy was lain on his side; he looked peaceful, as if he had just fallen asleep for a moment and lost track of time.His face was soft looking in sleep, a light brown, with his lips slightly parted. His hands were curled protectively around the empty space beside him. He wore a faded orange shirt and baggy jeans, with tattered old converse poking out from the hem of them. He was undoubtably handsome, even if it was in a homeless, skater type of way.
The wind brushed lightly against his skin. His face was littered with little pale nicks on his nose and cheeks, showing an insight to the life the boy had led. As the moonlight shone on him every so often his skin would seem to ripple, scales seeming to creep up his scared arms, slits appearing in his neck. But it was surely a trick of the light as the boy who lay there his black hair filling over his eyes was completely normal... completely.

Nico stared at him. The teenager’s dark eyes were unblinking. “You use to talk more.”
The words felt damning. It like hearing a gavel hitting a block. (Percy would know. He had been to court several times throughout his life.) Percy just snorted though, brushing it aside as though it was a noose of rope he could just throw away instead of letting it be placed on his neck.
“So did you.”
Nico’s expression twisted. Percy knew without asking the other demi-god was thinking about what he had been like back Percy and him had first met. He wasn’t the only one. It had been years but Percy could still remember some of the million questions the kid had babbled out: if Annabeth was a daughter of Athena then why-
“We’re not here to talk about me.”
Percy glared at Nico. “We’re not here for anything. You’re the one-“
Nico cut him off, “Would you have preferred Grover to have called Annabeth?”
Percy felt his expression shift; it was more inherent reaction that Percy purposely making an expression. “No,” he admitted quickly.
Annabeth was dealing with her family. She didn’t need more stress in her life.
Nico stared him. There was no pity in his eyes.
