Kara peered behind the shorter girl into the house and saw no movement. Not the hearty laugh of an old man or a cluttering of objects for kids.
“--you alone ma’am?”
The noble raised an eyebrow at the comment purposely calling out the possible connotations. Kara immediately flushed up even her ears turned a slight shade of pink,
“Oh golly! I don't possibly mean! Ge whizz!”
The blond covered her face with the hat to keep her little bit of dignity left. At this the other girl let out a slight giggle.

Kara rolls her eyes. “I don’t think there are thousands of flights headed to Sydney every day,” she says, sticking her hands in the pockets of her sweatpants.

“Right,” Kara answers flatly, pulling her hands out to cross her arms tight. “How blessed are we.”

When Kara left for three months to chase a lead on a possible huge exposé, her missing presence made Lena realize her true feelings for her best friend. But, three months later, on the day of Kara's return, as soon as Lena mustered the courage to confess her feelings, Kara was already engaged to someone she claimed to be the "perfect partner" for her and asked Lena to be her maid of honor. Lena then used this opportunity to try and prove to her best friend that she was the "perfect partner" for her.
The story was inspired by the film Made of Honor (2008).
