The Madrigals were vampire hunters and had been for the past 50 years.
This wasn't a problem until one of their own got turned.
After Mirabel's failed gift ceremony, Bruno takes her out on the family hunt anyway where things go terribly wrong. Mirabel gets turned and Bruno disappears after swearing to get revenge on the vampire that bit her.
Now with Antonio's gift ceremony looming and Casita starting to crack, Mirabel knows she can't stay hidden away in Casita and decides to do something about it.
If Bruno couldn't avenge her, the least she could do is avenge him.
