Silence.
They stare at each other, Soren’s eyes wide and encircled in glacial white.
Ike reaches out. Soren scoots closer. Ike lays his hands on his shoulders, eases them back down.
Soren shuts his eyes, takes in a deep breath, and lets it out. When Ike wraps his arms around him, Soren embraces him in response, laying his head on his chest.
What’s the point. What’s the point in fighting.
Ike is growing old. He wants to see the Branded village in the Grann desert - the one one place Soren may find sanctuary - before he leaves this world behind.
Soren was never any good at refusing him.
