When Nya got taken all Kai wanted was to get her back. She didn't know that along the way she would learn to fight, pick up a team, become a ninja, adopt a dark lord in the making and find a new home among all this insanity. But she did.
Or a rewrite of Ninjago with Kai being a girl and hiding it with a slight spin of my own.

Thin roots wrapped along the inside of his chest, curling around the various switches and reaching up to brush against his heart. They were deeply embedded in the circuits, pulsating alongside the various currents running through the wires. From the roots, bright green leaves had sprouted, thin and star-like in their formation. Closed clusters of petals stretched from the ends of the leaves, green fading into white.
If he was physically capable of throwing up, Zane was sure he would have.
Because P.I.X.A.L was absolutely correct. This was impossible.
They called it Hanahaki, the disease of unrequited love.

“Morro!” Two voices called. He glanced up to see Lloyd and Wu run up to him. They sank down and cautiously approached him. Morro took one look at them and launched himself into their arms, and he could actually feel them. He felt their warmth through their clothes, could smell their scents, could hear their heartbeats, and their tender hands as they stroked his soft hair and solid back.
His eyes flowed and he just kept sobbing, disbelief and shock and relief overwhelmed his senses. They sent information to his brain, oh First Master, he had a BRAIN-! With every new thing that he realized, more tears came out, until he just couldn’t cry anymore. He didn’t realize his body was shaking until it stopped.
He was alive.

It is not typical for someone to transfer into a new school during their junior year of high school; everything was already rooted down in the two years prior, so what can this cause other than more problems for teens? Cole has already made a name for himself at his high school, and paired with his friend group, he is very happy with his life at the moment. So, how does meeting the "new kid" affect him? But how will Cole manage balancing his school work along with the things in life he loves? Will he even get what he wants, or will he be the one suck watching from the bleachers, despite being the captain of the Varisty soccer team?

Kai already hates school, especially English. He only really focuses on volleyball and his family, until failing English almost causes him to lose the one constant in his life. He puts on a brave face while struggling with everything, but it all comes crashing down in the (best) worst way possible. He just wants a hug tbh. Despite everything crashing down around him, he finally gets the role he wants on the team. Doing his best to keep it, he does everything he can to fight for it, even when it means exposing his past.

After freeing the Dragons from captivity and steering clear away from Imperium for a few months, Lloyd's solo mission on infiltrating the City for more information about the Source Dragon went south— a conversation with the Dragon was overheard by the Claws Of Imperium, revealing that he was part Oni and Dragon which piqued the Empress's interest.
Too bad that Lloyd was now the interest of the Empress's cruel experiments, seems like she would be getting a new source of power very, very soon.
(Written before Dragons Rising pt.2)
