« Kai Smith…? » Jay murmured, deep in thought.
Lloyd’s eyes lit up, and Nya’s expression brightened. The atmosphere grew lighter, hope sparking between them.
« Yes! Do you remember him? » Lloyd asked eagerly.
Jay seemed to take a moment, studying Kai closely. His drink—forgotten—sat on the coffee table before him.
« Aren’t you supposed to be dead? »

Jay has finally returned, but the answers he gives leave the ninja team in doubt.

Summary
Cold.
That's how it felt. Cold and so very alone, floating around in a realm it's cursed soul was never meant to reach, a realm no one's soul which has been cursed should ever reach. The departed Realm.
A ball of light, tinted green, different from the pure whites of the other balls, floated around. Cold. So different from the warmth the pure souls recieve from the realm, the souls that are actually meant to be there. That are meant to be in safe warmth, that are meant to be revived, turned into something new, something pure, something good. So different from the lone green orb.
The dark, seemingly enclosed but endless space makes way for the orb, the white parting, running as if it's purity is threatened by merely being near the orb. An endless trail of twisting walls and cages of orbs similar to the lone green orb clear a path towards an odd light. The green orb floats closer, the light buzzes, quiet but overwhelming and entrancing. Suddenly, with no warning, the light brightens, shining far and buzzing loudly. The green is melted by the light, disappearing into it.

“Cole” Jay's voice comes in, and his tone is totally different from earlier. “You need to get out”
“What?” Cole answers through the comm as his eyebrows furrow in confusion. What Is Jay on about? He just got here!
“Cole, listen to me you need to-”
“You are not the blue ninja” Hearing the husky, deep voice from behind him startles Cole, quickly causing him to turn around. Dark sinister eyes are what he is met with.----

Officer Cole x Detective Zane
In a world were the merge doesn't occur, instead all realms are neighboring cities and all matters regarding ancient believes such as elemental masters and the beauty of traditional ninjutsu is forgotten, and replaced by high-tech technologies. Now society have grown accustomed to relying on mechs and advanced weapons to keep themselves safe.
But just because society has moved one doesn't mean elemental powers and such believes aren't still being pass down to each new generation.
Elemental masters are typically depicted as protectors or heroes, it runs in their blood. Now that the world has ceased to believe the existence of the very elemental masters that used to protect their ancestors, Cole and many other elemental master have chosen law enforcement career paths.
But something much deeper and meaningful was the reason Cole applied to this duty, he made a promise to himself to continue his mom's legacy and dreams. But during the mists of his duties he may have bumped in to the love of his life.
(Trust me, Sora is going to be important later.)
