Tali had turned and was beckoning her over, and she smiled before following her directions over to the stall she was standing at. It was a jewellery stall, covered in bracelets, necklaces and rings. Overall, a very pretty stall glittering with gold, silver, and various jewels that Ziva was sure, in her heart, were fake or cheaper knock-offs. That, of course, didn’t make them any less pretty — just until they got wet, of course. (Then they would rust or react and the beauty of the jewellery would be lost.)
“What do we have here?” Ziva asked, smiling at her daughter.
Tali was pointing at a few little jewellery pieces. “They’re so pretty, Ima!”

Her first real mission. No partner, no supervisor. Just a handler. It was just a surveillance mission, something that she couldn’t possibly mess up. The child of a diplomat was prone to disappearing at random times, or so most thought. Ziva had worked out that those “random times” happened to be times when he had been requested to come home by his father to do some sort of job for him, like attend an event or partake in a particularly important dinner. She, of course, had been tasked with following the child and making sure that they did not come into any harm.
Of course, she personally had added that, if possible, she would make sure that the child attended the events their father requested them to. After all, it would not do for the young man to keep disobeying his father. She would not dream of doing the same to her own. Disobeying a parent to act upon your own whims seemed unfathomable to her.
