Mira's eyes were back on Zoey, finding a near petrified expression. She was starting to put the pieces together but needed a confirmation. Slowly, she turned back to Rumi and hesitantly asked, "Zoey?"
Sure enough, Rumi was the one who responded, "Yeah?" finally glancing up to look between the other two women.
Mira finally understood what was going on. "Oh shit."

The scale lived under her bed now.
Zoey had found a good spot for it pushed back against the wall, behind the spare blanket she never used, invisible unless you were specifically looking. Mira had banned them from the house four months ago after finding one in the bathroom cabinet and delivering a ten-minute speech that Zoey had nodded through while mentally calculating how to replace it. Within a week she had a new one. Smaller. Easier to hide.

She got bored after about ten minutes of scrolling so she got up, regretting not just crashing on the couch in a Zoey/Mira sandwich. Rumi debated, briefly, asking for Bobby's advice—no way could she ask Celine— but what could she say? I think I have a crush on my bandmates what do I do?
She stopped at the sound of her name. Mira's door hadn't closed all the way, and she approached it, pushing it open a little, mouth opening to ask Mira if she needed something.
Or, Rumi accidentally watches Mira in the act and everything changes.
