Zanka liked to believe that he was always perfectly composed. He wore a polished mask over his face, never let his guard down, and even when he was fucking Jabber into the mattress in some dingy safehouse, those ridiculous eyebrows of his were still tense with focus.

“What?” asked Will, “Coursework?”
“Mating with Mike.”
Will had picked up his satchel full of art supplies that he’d left in the living room earlier that day, and at these words he dropped it with a resounding crash.
“Mating with Mike?” he repeated disbelievingly, “Are you insane?”
Will spends the day in Mike’s nest, unknowing of the implications. Everyone else spells it out for him.
