We all saw you… Your…” He chokes on his words, because yes, every death and every execution was horrible, but there’s something about that particular one that makes it so hard to remember. He shakes away the thoughts, brightening up at the presence of the other girl. “It doesn’t matter, you’re here now!”
A moment of awkward silence. Shuichi falters.
“I’m sorry,” Akamatsu Kaede stares back at him blankly, a friendly yet plastic smile on her face, no sense of recognition in her features. “I think you have the wrong person.”

In conclusion, Saihara-chan has pretty much been a ghost for the past few days.
There’s no clear reason for it.

Summary
There are only a few conclusions that can be derived from these... extenuating circumstances.
Firstly, the Galra Empire really needs to learn to keep track of their quintessence experiments.
Secondly, the Garrison is really shady. Like, what the heck is going on in there?
Lastly? Turns out, when you accidentally cause a zombie apocalypse on the planet the Paladins of Voltron hail from, intentionally or not? Having a common motivation from the get-go actually increases their efficiency.
(aka, everyone is traumatised and this is a zombie apocalypse au that, so far, has strangely few zombies. unless we count the galra as zombies? because they fused their DNA into quintessence and that quintessence affected humans so technically zombies/sun-afflicted are part galra now too? but that doesn't even matter because THERE STILL HAVEN'T BEEN ANY GALRA) (other than keith.) (and the zombies that cause shiro to lose his arm.) (uhm.) (oops.)
