“I can offer you supervised release, working with me on this case on a consultation basis. You help me work this case, you get out of this cell.” Mobius tucked the photograph back into the folder. “Temporarily. With conditions.”
Loki was quiet for a moment longer, something shifted in his expression, “You're very strange,” he said finally. “For a SHIELD agent.”
“I get that a lot.” A smile playing on his face as he held Loki's gaze. “Do we have a deal?”
Loki looked from Mobius to the reinforced glass between them, then down at the cuffs locked around his wrists. When his gaze returned, there was something colder and brighter in it than before.
“Temporary freedom,” he said slowly. “And in return, I help you hunt a murderer.”
“That’s the shape of it.”
Loki’s mouth curved into a dangerous smile. “Then I suppose we should discuss the conditions.”

What if Thanos never ambushed and invaded the Asgardian ship and they made it safely to Midgard? And What if the TVA never existed and Mobius worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. as a lonely agent in desperate need of help from a certain magic expert, investigating a case where mysteriously burned bodies are being found all over the city?

Summary
“He’s the one responsible for everything?” The woman leaned towards the TV. The ‘individual responsible’ was a tall man in green and black leather robes and long black hair slicked back. His hands were in cuffs and a muzzle placed over his lips.
“Loki.” Mobius pried the woman’s hands off him and stepped towards the TV.
“What?” She had no way of knowing that those aliens were more familiar to him right now than her.
He silently watched Loki on the screen. He had to get to him. He had to get to New York.
“Don?”
With a flash of blue light both Loki and Thor disappeared into the sky.
“Do you need to sit down?”
How the hell was he, an average human with a job, a fiancée, and a mortgage somewhere in Midwestern America, gonna save a prince on Asgard?

Picking up where we left off: After finally finding He Who Remains, Mobius and Loki have been thrown back into their respective lives on the Sacred Timeline. First, they need to find each other again, then they can worry about saving the multiverse.

Don pauses in his administration. Why is he helping this blue man who terrorized New York and killed numerous people not even a year ago? He looks at the arm in his lap, bloody and stiff. One that could kill him and his children in seconds.
"Because I have a death wish," he chuckles and shakes his head, "And it's the right thing to do."
