Years after Nie Mingjue’s death, Nie Huaisang goes back in time to prevent it from happening by killing Meng Yao before he can become a monster. Nothing goes as planned.
Nie Huaisang gave a heavy sigh. None of it excused the things Jin Guangyao had done. None of it would make him forgive his brother’s death.
But did it have to be that way? This was a child. A child who was crying in the night, on the cold stone he had as a bed, because someone he looked up to had hurt him. How could he blame him for what he had become? How could he say that this boy deserved death? Who was he to make that judgment?

Or: Nie Huaisang accidentally adopts a bunch of chaos gremlins.Very enjoyable read where for once Nie Huaisang travels into the past to fix it all. The kids are huge fun and seeing them scheme the jianghu into a better timeline was a delight.

Wei Wuxian managed to sit up. It hurt, but he didn’t feel as light-headed as he had earlier. He looked at his brother, and despite his best efforts, their eyes met. He saw anger and pain and grief, but in that moment there was also a grim understanding. Wei Wuxian hauled himself out of bed and said, “Wen Qing, take your brother and leave through the back. Jiang Cheng and I will stall them.”
“What? No!” Wen Ning protested. “You’re in no shape to - ”
“It doesn’t matter,” Wei Wuxian said. “We’re useless now. We can’t avenge our family. We can’t protect our sister. We can’t do much of anything, but we can buy a few minutes for the two of you to get out of here.”

The WangXian and ChengQing were great; also loved Men Yao's character development and the rarely seen take on a JC who doesn't need to proof himself constantly. Also enjoyed the political machinations and JGS getting what he so richly deserves. *hehe*

With no trace of him found, his loved ones have no choice but to believe he died in the Burial Mounds, and go into mourning.
But then strange things start to happen around Yunmeng ... and in Lanling, Jin Guangshan has only begun to take advantage of the power vacuum left behind by the war.Great fic with lots of Yunmeng siblings feels! Liked the handling of WWX's meantal health issues; LWJ's devotion is to die for and his pettiness is hilarious; the Xiyao was lovely and the XuanLi was kinda adorable in its awkwardness. Good use of JC, too.

“I guess he wasn’t so useless after all,” a second voice says. This one is calmer, and familiar to him. His eyes lock onto Jin Guangyao’s ever-pleasant face, then note the punk hanging back half a step behind him, grinning wide and looking a little manic.
