Summary
Robin Arellano survives the basement and both him and Finney make it out of that hellish place.
But they’re still not free.
Both of them now have to deal with trauma of what happened down there, trying to keep their heads above water while everyone else swims along easily. Finney fears he’ll never be able to shake off the basement, and that he’ll end up like his father. And Robin worries he won’t be able to protect his little brother forever. He can barely even protect himself.
Robin and Finney are broken and splintered like the reflection of a shattered mirror, but maybe, if they let other people help them, they can glue themselves back together again.

I didn’t like how tbp 2 ended and I thought it was unfair how only Gwen got a call even though Finn’s like the main character and how the whole talking to the dead through the phone started with him and after everything he’s been through he deserves to talk to someone he misses so I fixed it.

Hollander’s jaw tightened. His flush was past pink now, bordering on a scandalized red. It had crept down his neck and was visible underneath the open collar of his shirt. “You can’t be serious.”
Ilya shifted so that his foot was planted more firmly against the mattress, offering leverage. “They are ruined already.” Then, leery, “Get on my lap, Hollander.”

“You fainted,” Ilya says. “You barely eat. And now you are-“ He gestures vaguely at the mirror, at Shane, at everything. “Explain.”
Shane swallows. His heart is pounding again, but this time it’s not dizziness, it’s fear. Real, gut-deep fear.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen,” he says. “I just… I needed to get better.”
Ilya’s brow furrows. “You are the best center in the league.”
Shane laughs weakly. “Yeah. On the ice.”

Shane struggles with the hate he’s receiving online. He limits his eating, he overworks, trying to prove to the world, and himself, that he deserves Ilya. -

Summary
Shane swallowed hard, tears still slipping down his face, but he managed another breath. Then another. Each one shaky. Each one fragile. But they were coming. Ilya kept his hand steady against his back, the other still lightly holding his forearm.
“You’re okay,” he repeated quietly. “I’m right here.”
Shane’s voice came out broken and small. “I'm sorry. I couldn’t- I tried- I needed-”
His words dissolved into another shaky inhale, frustration and shame mixing with the remnants of panic. Ilya didn’t press him to explain. He knew Shane’s mind was still tangled in whatever storm had triggered this.
Right now, breathing mattered more than understanding. “You don’t have to say anything,” he said softly. “Just breathe.”
