Summary
It’s been years since The Long Quiet and The Shifting Mound reunited. Quiet had allowed the Voices new bodies to live on in the modern world, giving them their own apartments and preset lives before leaving to be with their other half.
Smitten and Cold have hated each other for two of those several years, or at least Smitten did. But out of the behest of the rest of the flock, they tried being.. friends. Which worked out fine.
Until it didn’t. Until it wasn’t enough.

Percy had always known he was different. Not only from other kids, but from how he stared at the reflection and felt he should be different.
His eyes never felt right as sea green, his mother’s light blue always seemed to match in his mind. His hair felt wrong black, he envied the copper haired classmates he had.
Other than his appearance, he always yearned to be outside in the moonlight, to run in the forest and never look back. But he couldn’t do that. Not when it left his mom with that garbage bag of a man named Gabriel.

Summary
The Voice of the Hero is hard enough to work with, from the Narrator's perspective. A random voice that wants to save (and perhaps fall in love with) the Princess is the opposite of what He needs.
But it could be worse. Our protagonist could have arrived with the Voice of the Contrarian in his head, instead.

Summary
The Wild and the Apotheosis are two of the strongest vessels, they can break the construct. When the Shifting Mound is a bit late on retrieving her gift of a Tender Heart, the Nightmare grows to receive this strength, too.
But all she knows is how to hurt…
And so she does. She breaks the Long Quiet. Not mentally, or spiritually, or even just his will. She breaks him in a terrible, pragmatic way.
Like the Sleeping Mound, they can hope to rebuild him from the Paranoid voice that survives. Together, the Paranoid and the Nightmare must bring Voices to the Long Quiet, and Vessels to the Shifting Mound.
Hilarity ensues.
