ManMech was a Vtuber whose main gimmick was acting as a dorkish Mechaman impersonator. Its a known joke within his community that he's well overdue to be sued by the hero's lawyers for his burlesque parody.
Robert is just hoping that nobody makes the connection-- that they're actually the same person.

Summary
The Mechaman suit, with the Astral Pulse by extension, was always conscious. It's just been sitting dormant, content at recording and collecting data from it's pilots silently as a passive tool.
But by the third generation of its pilots... it foresees that pilot Blue will not last long alone, and it doesn't like that.
Or: The suit is 'alive'. There's some bullshit allegory here somewhere about keeping control, but Robert's more focused on being a protector and not letting the machine overtake his job.

Now usually Shroud the hero is no fan of kids that aren't his-- they're loud, abrasive and annoying, but Mechaman was undeserving of having the most toughest kid he had ever known as a son.
The only thing he felt when he put that bullet into his wretched ex-friend's heart was sorry for the grief that young Robert would suffer through.
Or: AU where Shroud was another father figure/babysitter for Robert.

When Wilbur had first disappeared, Tommy didn't think much about it. Considering the fact that the villain was practically untouchable, it'd be impossible for him to be caught. He'll come back, he always does.
He began to worry when hours turned into days of utter silence.
Before he knows it, it was months later when Wilbur had finally reappeared in news headlines without any warnings. The Phantom was the newest addition to the hero's side, redeemed and now serving to atone for his past crimes.
There were still no answers from him and Tommy could only wait for so long.
