Ilya hesitated, staring at the number. He was captain of Hollander’s new team. It would have been completely normal, if not expected, that he would reach out to him soon. But his hand had turned to lead, his finger hovering over the “Call” button. What would he even say?
“Hey Hollander. Sorry your team dumped you out of nowhere after building them a dynasty and you’re being shipped back to your hometown to play on an historically shitty team, captained by me, the guy who you’ve been pitted against your whole career and built up a decade’s worth of resentment towards, not to mention the fact that we sucked each other’s dicks that one time years ago and then pretended that it never happened. A long silence stretched while Shane Hollander looked at the camera, seemingly deciding whether it was worth it to lie.
“No!” J.J. said, horrified.

“Okay?!” Shane Hollander said, throwing his arms out. “I don’t know what to tell you!”
“Jesus Christ, okay.” Hayden shuffled behind the camera. “Ilya Rozanov.”
A flush bloomed across Shane Hollander’s freckled face, intensifying so fast it looked like his face was on fire.
“Uhm.” He pressed his lips together before his shoulders dropped in resignation. “Smash.”
