Summary
By 1990, Will couldn’t take the guilt any longer. He couldn’t be in that town, with these people, where everything reminded him that he made it out alive, and she didn’t. So, he did what he believed had to be done; he packed his life and ran away, leaving everything behind.
It’s 1998, and Will starts his second year as an art teacher in a sanctuary for boys, a place that’s become almost a sanctuary to him, too. He managed to bury his past so deep that no one would ever be able to dig it out.
Or so he thought, until the new teacher turns out to be the one person he was never truly able to forget.
Or: a really angsty bylearner slow burn with a happy ending :)

"I'm actually so excited to have you live with us," Will said giddily.
"You are?"
Mike hoped it didn't sound as pathetic to them as it did to him.
Will grinned at him. "For sure. I can finally do something about that hair of yours."
Despite himself, Mike laughed out loud, cherishing the taunting.
It was going to be fine. If he could have this Will by his side again, he could take other men having their way with him a thin wall away from Mike. Couldn't he?
Or: Will gives Mike a little bit of tough love, encouraging him to stop wasting his life. Mike moves in with Will and Dustin in New York only to realize that Will has a very - very - active sex life. Mike is okay with it for about three nanoseconds before he loses his mind, regretting every choice he ever made and desperately wishing it was him there with Will.
