"What's John saying?"
Tell him I'm asking what's wrong with you!
"I don't…" Arthur screws his eyes shut and John groans in irritation. It's cut off when Arthur finishes with, "Who?"

Summary
“Hey, Arthur,” Noel says casually.
He’s looking at us with a sly smile, having just glanced at something under the table.
“Hm?” Arthur hums, setting down his coffee. John’s rolling his hand against the table in a steady ‘tap tap tap tap’ of fingernails.
“John’s got control of one of your feet, yeah?”
Arthur raises a brow, trying to figure out where this conversation could possibly be going. “Yes?”
“Okay, so he’s the one that’s been playing footsie with me for the past twenty minutes, right?”

Summary
Something bad is happening to John.
He can’t put his finger on it, but he knows two things. One, it started at some point between getting his own body and now— and two, it isn’t going to end well.

Summary
"His arms still felt tense without the connection to Arthur. Anxiety – was that what that was? – was brewing in his gut at the distance between them, despite it only being two feet at most. At least in Arthur’s eyes he had a better position to warn him should something approach; now there were too many distractions, and the angle was off. He had an almost overpowering urge to grab onto Arthur again, hold him tight against his body and never let him go ever again. That way they could be close again, close enough to protect against any threats, close enough to feel… whole."
---
John and Arthur finally separate and temporarily stay in New York to get used to this new arrangement. It doesn't go as well as they might have hoped.

Summary
John isn’t a fucking idiot. He doesn’t hand the razor over, just lifts his own hand and then freezes when Arthur’s fingers circle his wrist delicately, guiding it on the next pass. It’s shakier this time; John can’t keep his fingers steady, all too aware of the pulse in his wrist and thumb and the touch of skin against his own. Not the novelty of it, but the strange intimacy of the contact, never mind that he and Arthur have been sharing a body and half-sharing a mind for months now.
“Better.” Another swipe of his fingers, and John for a single, desperate second wishes he had Arthur’s throat too, just that swathe of skin, so he could know how it feels.

Summary
“I know I haven’t been the most forthcoming with information, and I’m sorry; I do trust you, it’s just… These forces that surround me, Oscar, they’re not to be trifled with. You’ve witnessed firsthand the damage one creature can do, let alone the dozens, thousands of entities in worlds far more dangerous than anything you or I could imagine.” He hesitated. No. John had wanted this. He deserved to make his own choices, as much as he was able. “Earlier, you asked who…‘John’ was.”
“‘No one you’ll ever meet,’” Oscar echoed quietly. “Aye. I didn’t mean to pry.”
“No, no, you didn’t. I—” He stopped.
You can say it, Arthur.
He took another deep breath. And took the plunge.

Summary
The King in Yellow has a plan.
The first part works, and Arthur Lester is broken.
The second half blows up in his face. John has gone mad, and Hastur’s adopted daughter is upset, but that’s not all.
It turns out a certain Outer God wasn’t done watching that show, and when he arrives with director’s notes, not even the King in Yellow can refuse him.

“‘Strangely,’” Arthur repeats, with no small amount of disdain.

Summary
“He should wake soon.”
That’s what Yorick had told him. After Arthur had initially awoken, screaming in agony and gasping with terror. He’d told John that, assured him of that. Because the talisman had brought him back and would heal him, would make him better.
Fucking load of shit, John seethes and taps his claws on the same rotten wooden table he’s been tapping for the past five hours.

“Their bodies are long and thin, almost cylindrical,” John says, squinting upwards while they amble forward. “Topped with halos quivering in a gentle golden light. Some of them blink on and off with no discernable pattern, and-”
“John,” Arthur interrupts, fighting back a chuckle so desperate to get out that his throat burns with the effort. “Those are probably the street lamps, darling.”
John gets drunk for the first time - it shouldn't be as entertaining as it is.

“I don’t see why we have to go to a stupid party in the first place.”
“You know why. We were invited.”
“A stupid reason.”
“I thought you’d be excited. It’s not every day one gets to brush elbows with the upper-crust; to be frank, I never thought my music would catch on as much as it has. I’m really quite flattered.”
“I still don’t see why I have to come. You’re the famous composer.”

Summary
In hindsight, buying the ridiculously low-priced house with build papers from the late 1700s and an appeal for condemnation on record was probably an ill-advised move. But Arthur still maintains that ghosts are not a typical nor rational thing to worry about when browsing real estate.
…
Arthur moves into a haunted house. The ghost that lives there is … less than pleased.
