Summary
Rebecca just wanted to make something fun as a way to cope with the stress of being confined in the Grand Temple, trying to save the world while also trying to ignore the family drama happening in the background that absolutely nobody signed up for.
Of course, because this was the Animus, something had to happen while Desmond was just trying to get through Connor’s memories without ‘accidentally’ strangling Haytham just to make him stop commenting about how Connor runs the Aquila.
Now, Desmond is stuck in Rebecca’s incomplete dating sim and must get a date for the upcoming ball without getting any of the possible targets into a negative affection rating as that would mean his death…
Oh. And his possible targets are his ancestors because that’s just how unfortunate Desmond Miles is.
(tl;dr: Desmond gets stuck in an otome game because the Animus glitched out and his primary love interests are Altaïr, Ezio, Connor, and Haytham)

Summary
While it was true that Desmond Miles had a terrible childhood, Desmond was pretty sure that between him and his three ancestors, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad would be crowned as the king in the most screwed-up childhood category.
And, instead of dying after using the device back in the Grand Temple, Desmond now had first-row seat in the tragic play that was Altaïr’s life in the Levantine Brotherhood.
Oh. And he gets to play the part of the doomed younger brother of Malik Al-Sayf, Kadar Al-Sayf.
You know what? Screw that. Desmond isn’t going to just let himself get killed because of Altaïr’s dumb arrogant ass. He’ll survive that day in Jerusalem even if it means becoming Altaïr’s own (dubious) moral compass.
