Now it's up to Aziraphale and Crowley to pick up the pieces, and fill the books in the bookshop with the right words to restore their world to how it used to be. (With a few love confessions, proper apologies and dances along the way, as well as improvements to, finally, make the world a better place.)

Life in Camelot has been hard after Morgana's betrayal, but when new snow covers the fields and the castle halls get a little too stuffy, Merlin convinces Arthur to go on a trip to unwind in the wintry beauty. Little does he know that since it's the Winter Solstice, his magic is significantly weakened, leaving him with no protection when bandits attack them. Worse, a snowstorm arrives, cutting them away from Camelot and any proper medical equipment.
Now, it is up to Arthur and the knights to save Merlin and make sure he stays warm.

Summary
On their way back to Camelot, Merlin and Arthur get ambushed by bandits. Arthur gets hurt in the fight, and Merlin—instead of acting like a proper servant to the king—shuts down all of Arthur’s protests and makes them share a horse so that Arthur can rest. Now, for the remainder of their way home, Arthur is seated behind Merlin in the saddle and given nothing but time to contemplate the longing in his heart.
The warmth that Merlin offers in the crisp air—Arthur’s arms wrapped around Merlin’s middle, his chin on Merlin’s shoulder—might just finally make him act on his feelings.

The whole Camelot is celebrating the engagement between Uther and Ygraine de Bois. There is music, food and entertainment, the great hall filled to the brim. Yet the only ones not celebrating are the king himself, his court physician, his future wife, and the court sorceress caught in the midst of the unfortunate love square.
That is until Ygraine notices that just like her eyes are glued to Nimueh across the table, so are her future husband’s eyes glued to Gaius. With that in mind, she makes Uther an offer he cannot refuse.

When Arthur had (lost his damn mind and) ordered Merlin to leave the horses in Camelot instead of taking them on patrol with them, Merlin expected trouble. He did not, however, expect to be running for his life within two hours of setting foot in the forest, pursued by a large band of bandits—or for Arthur to suddenly go down, unable to draw a breath for no apparent reason.
Least of all did he expect that today, of all days, would be the day he kissed Arthur for the very first time.
To save their lives, of course.
. . . No other reason.

Summary
The war between Camelot and Balinor’s kingdom has been devastating their lands for Arthur’s whole life. It was his duty to fight for his people and lead them to victory, and there was only one way to do that—to take out Balinor’s most powerful player. His own son, Merlin.
Yet when Arthur finally meets Merlin on the battlefield, he is nothing like what he had expected.
Then when Merlin messes up an attack spell and sends them both into an unknown, lifeless world, Arthur has more time than he would have liked to truly contemplate if killing Merlin is the only way forward and out of this war. What more, they will have to work together to escape. Here, it is just them, their own prejudices, and a strange, magical house that offers to cater to their needs but demands their deepest secrets in return.
Arthur might have to face some uncomfortable truths to get out of there, and perhaps, even open his heart.

Still, he takes Gaius’s advice and lies to her about what had happened at the lake with Arthur and Sophia. In the middle of the night, when the guilt is too much for him to bear and neither he nor Morgana can sleep, Merlin decides he has to make it right. Morgana deserves to know, no matter what Gaius thinks.

“I know I’m a prince, so we can’t be friends. But if I wasn’t a prince—”
Arthur can’t stop thinking about those words. About what he really wanted to say. Hours later, when Merlin’s dressing him for the fight with the dragon, very clearly trying not to cry, Arthur has a decision to make. Either listen to his father’s voice in his head and ignore it, then possibly die while trying to save Camelot, with regret being the last thing he remembers. Or, use this last moment with Merlin to act like true friends do, and offer him a shoulder to cry on.
In the end, it really isn’t a hard decision at all.
Set in the episode 2x13 The Last Dragonlord.
