  3. Summary

Not intially written to be a series, but a bunch of the headcanon from "In Their Minds; In Their Hearts" showed up in "Oh Confound it, Dating is Discombobulating", so I finally decided to connect the two. However, neither fic is required to understand the other.

ITM;ITH is a headcanon story for Dirk: Synchronize/Unite.

OCiDiD takes place directly after, but diverges pretty far from canon. It's a study in character play between the Alphas, for what would have happened if Dirk had admitted to himself that Jane liked Jake.

The third entry is an alternate ending to OCiDiD, written for April Fools' Day 2013.

    Have fun!

How had I not bookmarked this??? This is one of my fave fic series. It's just wonderful all around, and also happens to have perhaps my fave take on Benr(e)y's whole deal, one of my fave depictions of Boomer, and one of my fave Darnold-centric stories.

    Summary

Heather McNabb's career as an airline hostess comes to an end in much the usual manner: she meets a man.

(Two men, really, though not at once, and she wouldn't know it until later—but that's getting ahead of the story.)

Or, the Innocents don't always go home at the end of the story.

Awesome, well-researched take on a minor recurring character, written using one of my all-time favourite story structures (where information is revealed piece by piece until the puzzle starts to take shape). Heather deserved better than she got in the show, and she's given it here.

    Summary

The Tesseract skids to a halt at Loki’s feet while he waits for Thor to haul him back to Asgard. Seeing an opportunity, he picks it up and uses it to get away. But it takes him... well, he’s not sure where. It looks like the inside of Stark Tower, right back where he started. But now there is no one else to be seen, and the view out the window seems wrong...

    Bookmarker's Notes

A gorgeous canon-divergent fic that really surprised me. Without going into too many spoilers, don't get dissuaded by the Original Male Character the way I almost did. This is a story that very much has a Thorki blueprint, and the other relationship--and the OMC himself--only exists because of Thor's love for his brother, though he isn't Loki. It's a wonderful character study that asks a lot of intriguing questions about personhood, and what makes each of us ourselves. It also has one of the best instances of Loki confronting Thor about his grievances that I've seen in a fic, and a wonderfully hopeful ending. Definitely recommended!
