Summary
After multiple rounds of negotiation, humans and androids have made a peace pact. The White House passed an emergency amendment to the American Android Act in an attempt to integrate the one million of deviant androids into the society. The city of Detroit is slowly reviving, but something still lurked in the shadows, something much more sinister than anyone imagined. The world is about to be turned upside down once more.
This is my take on what could happen after the main story of D:BH, based on the "everyone survived" ending, structured as similar to the original game as I could manage. No branching choices, sadly. Rated M17+ due to strong languages/graphic depictions of violence/mentioning of dr*gs (red ice).
Heavily inspired by the writing style of Star Wars Rogue One novellization (Alexander Freed). Special thanks to Grey for proofreading.
Oh, if you're wondering, no obvious romance is involved in the story. If you came for romance, sorry! If you came for the story, though, enjoy.

The year is 2039.
In the aftermath of the android revolution, Detroit is overrun by CyberLife’s shady dealings and the uprising of a rogue deviant faction that actively opposes Markus' ideals, wreaking havoc all across the city.
As a CyberLife analyst specialized in behavioral assessments for androids, you've been tasked by the FBI to work closely with former deviant hunter Connor at the DPD—your job is to oversee his conduct, making sure he doesn't further jeopardize the corporation’s credibility.
But when Connor's newfound deviancy forces him to confront the inevitable feelings and urges that come with it, there's no more room for professionalism between you. Add to that, you're not exactly immune to his charm, and before you know it, he ends up in your bed.
And that complicates things.

Postawiony przed tragicznym wyborem przypomina sobie wszystko, co doprowadziło go do tego miejsca, chociaż i bez tego wie, jaka jest decyzja.
czyli: Nines zostaje uprowadzony przez mordercę, który pragnie lokalizacji nowego Jerycha i Nines dobrze wie, że powie mu wszystko, aby tylko Gavin wyszedł z tego cało.
Tytuł wzięty z piosenki "We might be dead by tommorow" od Soko i jest jednocześnie mottem do całego dzieła.

Eight months after a peaceful revolution, Detroit has finally settled into a new status quo, with androids discovering lives without servitude and humans adjusting to lives without their servants. It isn't entirely comfortable yet; there are still some kinks to work out, but the tension is gone. However, the situation comes to a head once more when a mysterious android emerges from the derelict suburbs of the city to perpetrate multiple terrorist attacks against humans and androids. The DPD have limited time to find out who the android is, who made it, and how to stop it. The answer likely lies inside an android found by the FBI outside a burning bunker, but its memory has been routinely deleted, and the only way to recover the memories is to find ways to trigger them.
Or, Hank adopts another android.

Summary
Gavin Reed is seriously over worked, and finding it hard to cope in these new integrated times. It's no secret he hasn't been the same for the last couple years. Angry, bitter, resentful and on the edge of a mental breakdown. He's struggling to cope as Connor takes it upon himself to knock his walls down and throw his comfortable belief system into question. How the hell is he supposed to do his job if he starts seeing these smashed up robots as people?
A chance encounter at Cyberlife leaves him with even more than he bargained for as he's forced to work with a new partner. Over time he slowly decides that maybe the RK900 isn't so bad. Anything more than that? Hell no. Not Gavin Reed. No way.
Meanwhile it seems an old adversary of Gavin's has come back to haunt him. Or has he? That's what Perkins needs his help to find out as the FBI takes on an old serial murder case.
That doesn't mean Gavin isn't busy at the DPD. The revolution was no joke, allowing various sickos to crawl out of every corner. Gavin, Connor, Hank and Nines have their work cut out for them trying to keep on top of it all.
