Summary
Talon has been told it was born to be Talon. There has never been any other purpose for Talon. Talon would not know if there was since Talon has no memories prior to its training. (Talon does not know anything about how Dick Grayson once beat the Joker to death for killing his little brothers. Talon doesn’t recognize the laughter ringing in its ears as it eliminates the threat to Dick Grayson’s third little brother.)
Two years after Dick Grayson disappeared Gotham City wakes to the news that many of its most wealthy citizens were slaughtered the night before during what appears to be a cult meeting of “The Court of Owls.” A cult that was no longer a longstanding myth of Gotham but now a group whose existence was both proven and negated in the space of a day: massacred and burned to the ground with evidence of their crimes all that was left behind. What few members of the Court left were out of town. None of them make it back to Gotham alive. They become, like Dick Grayson’s disappearance, yet another cold case from the crime capital of the USA.
A year later, man going by the name Neal Caffrey introduces himself to a man going by the name Mozzie. It is both the beginning and the end of his story.

This is a fic of a fic of a fic of a fic. (I think…) So you absolutely need to read the fic it was inspired by first. This is Izuna’s direct reaction to what happens near the end of “calamities” and will not make sense out of context. (You may also want to be familiar with Dreaming of Sunshine and Shikako Nara in the first place!)
For some context, Shikako Nara and Sasuke Uchiha from “Dreaming of Sunshine” accidentally landed in the warring clans era. Sasuke is found by the Uchiha and Shikako is captured by Tobirama (who is able to sense her ancestry as a Nara with some Senju in the past, and is also very interested in having a friend to talk sealing with). Sasuke has meanwhile set up an ID for Shikako as his sister in anticipation of them meeting back up. This leads to both Izuna (because he thinks she’s under mind control seals) and a Senju elder trying to kill her (and kill Izuna too), so as to destabilize the peace talks. Tobirama saves her and Izuna by killing the elder. This is how I imagined Izuna would react. Really, read the fic this is based on first.

This was really good in a number of unique ways. Like the way Ziva’s character was handled was so unique, you almost never see her and Tony having a positive relationship when reading any kind of competent Tony and Tony leaves NCIS fics (m/m especially). Harry and Tony’s relationship was pre-established from the start and was just a nice domestic background thing which, again, I haven’t seen done much. Gibbs wasn’t a horrible person and a horrible boss (or just horribly incompetent at proper team management). Keeping that respect that he and Tony had in the early few episodes and instead of allowing it to deteriorate as it clearly did in canon it grew in the background in a way that was actually not very far off from the show either. I would probably read more of this. The continuing adventures of Tony and Ziva in their respective roles with Harry the amazing husband and politician all working to make the world better, with the occasional visit from their friend Jethro for holidays and the like. I really liked this story.

I keep reading this, loving it, and then forgetting to bookmark it and going searching for it again a few months later when I want to reread it again. Really good fic. I love fics that explore quirk theory (and of course it helps that my favorite purple boy Hitoshi is the main character too).
