Summary
Decades after the Crimson War, dragons have become a myth, a bedtime story used to scare children into behaving properly. Dragons are a far thought from Kirishima Eijirou's northern village, where ice and snow reign supreme for most of the year. Demons are a much more close to home concern, and the village people seem convinced that Kirishima is one. But he's not. He's just... different. Raised by the village blacksmith, the heat of the forge feels more like home than the icy tundra and icy people outside. And Kirishima is happy where he is. Content with his mentor and his only friend. Life isn't perfect, but it isn't horrible.
Until his comfortable life shatters with the appearance of one mysterious man in the forest. A mysterious man that looks like him. Kirishima soon finds himself thrown into an ocean of cultural and political turmoil that does not belong to him, and he must figure out how to swim fast before the dangerous tides of deceit and betrayal drown him beneath their murky waves.

Fantasy AU my beloved ❤
This fic had me smiling oh so softly.
First and foremost, Toyomitsu and Kirishima have an adorable and touching father-son relationship. They don't share blood ties but they are more bonded than some relatives. I love it when krbk fics touch upon this relationship in Kirishima’s life.
The feeling of home and comfort is wonderfully conveyed, all the warmth from the food and kind words and heat from the forge is hitting close to home.
Great contrast with all the snow, malicious neighbours and five days without sun.
You slide into the story gradually and very smoothly. I enjoyed every moment and it didn’t feel rushed to me.
Lovely metaphors.

Kirishima was found by Toyomitsu in a woven basket with only his name on it. Toyomitsu owns a smithy. Amajiki works there too.
Bakugou is a dragon for a change! They meet near a river on opposite banks. Mononoke scene. Kr saves Bk's life.

In all fairness, Bakugo hadn't wanted to even speak to the kid. And if anyone asked him why they did what they did, he wouldn't have taken any of the blame, no matter how guilty he felt. And truth be told, if he hadn't been with the others, there was a slim, almost nonexistent chance, he may have stuck up for him too. But he had a reputation to uphold.
And if that meant teasing a kid he had never even met before to see the validation on his classmate's faces, then so be it.
Or; The class meets Kirishima in a slightly different way, and know him for a far shorter amount of time.

“Don’t worry…” he swallows, painfully audible. “I… I’m going to get some help…” he is a stammering mess, his entire body refusing to listen to him as it continues to tremble in panic. “Don’t… don’t go anywhere.”

Eijirou doesn’t feel neither as a man or a friend when he stumbles out of the room, his head still pounding both from fever and adrenaline. He has to find someone, quickly.
But just as he reaches the hallway, cold feeling passes through him like a ghost, and yet again he’s not sure if it’s from the sickness or dread.
Because there, stalking quietly through the dark hallways of UA class 1-A dormitories, is a figure that seems to be more like a shadow with a black cloak covering their form.
Eijirou freezes on the spot and gathers his remaining self-control to resist the urge to shout, his eyes are gluing at the unrecognizable person making their way to…
Bakugou's room.

Or; Katsuki gets kidnapped again but this time Eijirou goes after him. A story about two teenagers stuck in the middle of nowhere and fighting for survival while they're simultaneously coming to the terms with their feelings for each-other.

Everything here feels right for me. I enjoyed it profusely. Survival in brutal circumstances is extremely interesting to read. Admirable piece of art. The boys are precious. And also very traumatized. The amount of weight they will have to carry with them through their life is unimaginable.

Read it after or before the other work written by this author - Yuletide.
One of the few works that I read while it was still ongoing because I just couldn't resist.
Scotland, Fae, don’t go into the fog when it rolls in and Kirishima is on the run from his past.
The accurate display of my emotions towards this fic would look like hundreds of violent bursts of fireworks inside my chest
