Summary
Emma Swan has served thirteen years of a seemingly never-ending sentence for killing her foster father. The events of that night have blurred with time but the one thing remains clear in her mind is the reason for her situation. The reason that bears the name: Regina Mills.
Regina Mills lives an okay life in an okay town with her long time okay partner Robin. Never quite able to move passed the events of the fateful night that took her baby's life so many years ago, the shadows of the past threaten to harden into reality when a new inmate transfers into Rockeast under her duty.
Perception is reality and the truth lies somewhere in between but in some cases, the truth lies so far outside the realm of possibility there are those who will do anything to keep it from being discovered. Trusting your own husband, your own mother, should be an infallible decision, but allowing others to decide what's best for you isn't always a good idea.

“Cramps?” Regina’s voice now was so soft, a softness that was reserved for Emma (and their son), her fingers delicately combing through the blonde’s hair as if every strand was precious. That she was precious.
Emma blew out harshly through her nose, a strangled wine escaping her voice, “Remember that time I took a chainsaw to your tree?”

Summary

Her parents have a new child. She herself seems to have acquired something resembling a boyfriend. And Robin and Regina are in a relationship.
Emma doesn't know what to do or how to feel about these changes. So she starts running. Not too far away, and never for long enough to cause her family worry. Just far away enough and for long enough to protect not only them, but herself.

Summary
Shortly before Emma’s marriage to Hook, Emma asks for Regina’s help in undoing the Black Fairy’s spell on her dress. For once, Emma just wants something in her life to be normal, and wearing her mother's wedding dress in a non-curse-blackened state seems like a good start.
But ultimately, what Emma really needs Regina’s help with is a lot more complex – and a lot more seemingly impossible.
An explanation in fic form as to why Emma does not wear Snow’s wedding dress in canon. Starts at the end of S6 and picks up again post-S7 (but it's probably not necessary to have watched both seasons in full).
