“I could help you out,” Mike blurts out.
“You- I- What did you say?” Will stammers. Mike squeezes his eyes shut for a long moment, breathes, and then opens them again and meets Will’s gaze determinedly.
“I could help you,” Mike says, with somehow only the slightest tremble of uncertainty in his voice. "As in, we could have sex."or; Will is struggling. Guys who are nice, hot, AND good in bed are apparently non-existent at their university. Frustrated, he complains to Mike - who makes him an offer he can't refuse.
Unfortunately, there's always an aftermath to hooking up with your best friend.

Summary
Will could think of one person who would understand. Mike.
And that's what pained him the most. Because he used to understand. Used to be the one that understood Will completely, almost reading him like a book whenever something was wrong. Always stood by his side and held his hand whenever he needed it most, comforting him on his days full of despair and fear, and listened to all his worries no matter the size, big or small. Something hit him in that moment— a terrible realization. Fuck.
He really, really missed him.

After graduating from high school, Will gets into a relationship with Chance, another graduate who happened to be extremely attractive and sweet. There was just one tiny, small problem. He wasn’t over Mike like he thought he'd been, and just when things couldn’t get any worse, he ran straight into him at a Halloween party. The same one Chance had invited him to, and from there, things blew up— heated, messy, and everything Will never imagined would happen.

He knows, it’s all his fault. He knows. But there are tears stinging in his eyes and he calls Will again, because how the hell is he supposed to figure this out on his own? He calls again, and again, and again, and again, until Will picks up.
“Mike. Let it go. It’s almost morning, you should sleep. Why can’t you do as I ask and not call me?”
Mike swallows, voice coming out as a pathetic croak, “Will. Will, I can’t lose you. I can't-” The tears that have been burning in his eyes impatiently, finally roll down his cheeks in fat, slow, drops.

Will needs time away from Mike, time to focus on college and time to get over his unrequited feelings. For the first time, Mike is not the one to push Will away and he cannot stand the feeling. He ends up calling Will, even though he asked him not to, desperate to get him back. It's not too late, is it?

Will’s voice trails off, and he runs a hand over his face. Mike waits a few moments to see if he’ll say anything else, but when Will doesn’t, he takes a shaky breath and tries to find his own courage.
“And you thought, what?” Mike whispers. “That - that it wouldn’t mean as much to me if it came from you?”
Will flinches. He’s still turned away from Mike, and there’s a desperation in his voice when he whispers back, “Mike, please…”
