Summary
Kurosaki Ichigo has fallen, so has Soul Society. No matter how hard they fought, Yhwach had come out on top. All he needed was Ichigo's power, which he took by force. Shinji expected it all to be over. For Yhwach to finally get his paradise and for the rest of them to be destroyed.
Instead, he wakes up in the past, right before the Winter War, with all his memories and he's not the only one. It seemed everyone was transported to the past and they all remember. They all remember everything and now they have a chance, a second chance, to prepare for Yhwach's return and maybe, just maybe, stopping him from killing Ichigo.

Summary
This entire story is based "about 1000 years ago", when Yamamoto's school was started, and Kyouraku and Ukitake were attending the Academy. It had lots of sword play, but it also has a very sweet shonen-ai sort of romance, which is denied by Kyouraku, between the two Academy boys.
This is an account of how Ukitake and Kyouraku got their shikai at the same time, so that no one could tell which one got it before the other, as Yamamoto told it. It's also got the beating that Yamamoto gave them, and more about what Soul Society was like back 1000 years ago. It has some historical facts in it, but is not entirely historically accurate. It also deviates from canon and from Unohana's origins. Please accept my apologies for any inaccuracies. Incandescens is my beta for this series, without her, this would not exist.

It had been nearly six months since Jushiro’s Konso Reisai, and though he put on a good front, Shunsui had been completely torn apart by the ceremony. As wrongly as it had gone, things had been smoothed over fairly quickly - at least, in Soul Society. Balance had been achieved and no one questioned it. The confrontation the lieutenants had in the Living World had been filed away in a report.
Shunsui didn’t dare read the details more than once.
Since then, he had admittedly been a wreck. Thinking of Jushiro - his husband of so many centuries - in such a place tore at his heart in a way nothing else ever had. Shunsui didn’t know what Hell was like, but he was certain it wasn’t a place for a pure, kind soul like Jushiro.
Jushiro’s place was back in his arms.
As he had been for countless years, beginning as far back as the Academy.
