Summary
Kaveh has always been the one to try his utmost best to avoid any confrontation. Even now, in the face of confusion and bewilderment, Kaveh predictably ran to his work, the first (and probably the only) thing he feels extremely sure about.
And now the desert is in danger, Al-Haitham ponders grumpily. He is surely safe, and I'm positive we will find him in time.
The peace is, however, short-lived. "A-Acting Grand Sage, th-the desert… it is under attack."
(Premise set in Sumeru while the Abyss war of Natlan Chapter 5 Act IV is going on)

The quote echoes in Kaveh’s mind, the same way it has many times now since the day Kaveh first read it written the notes Alhaitham made about Sachin. It’d taken a while for him to decipher their meaning, and even after that it’d still felt out of reach, an immovable impossibility against the life he’d chosen to live. Ideals and dreams have and always been the backbone of artistry, and to not lean on those felt like a complete antithesis to what he strives for.
But now, as he stands at the top of King Deshret’s Mausoleum and knowing immeasurable disaster might come to them tomorrow despite all of their efforts, he thinks he might finally start to understand what those words truly mean. Especially in the face of Alhaitham’s steady, unwavering belief.
(or, what happens after their conversation at the top of the Mausoleum the night before everything changes. Spoilers for Patch 6.6/Luna 7.)
