Summary
This is a reworking of my largest story to date, namely "Above and Beyond the Horizon." After several years on this platform, I have learned a lot, and I wanted to make that story easier to read. While I think that the bones of it were good, it needed a ruthless edit (and to have the tags and continuity fixed!). If you have read the original story, and would like to give feedback, I would be happy to hear from you. If you have not read that story, I think you should stick to this one, as it's about half the size!
In short, Mr. Darcy is rude to Charlotte instead of Elizabeth at the Netherfield ball. What he doesn't realise is that these two friends have had a falling out, and that Lizzie's reaction to his words make things a lot worse rather than better. Over the course of the story, it becomes clear that some long-overdue changes need to happen...and that some of our characters rise to the challenge of those changes much better than others do.

Lando Norris and George Russell are the prodigies of the British junior curling circuit at just the right time. Team GB had won three consecutive golds in the Winter Olympics from 2006 to 2014 under the command of Ron Dennis, but after 2018 Pyeongchang, where they went to the bronze medal match and lost it to Team Germany, everything spiralled. Ron got sacked and replaced with Team GB's junior coach, Toto Wolff, who has been slowly trying to rebuild the team since 2019.
So for 2022 Beijing they had: Lewis Hamilton who is considered the greatest curler in modern times but is still upset at Ron's sacking, the skip Jenson Button who is going to retire after the Olympics, and Lando Norris and George Russell, two of the most talented juniors on the scene.
But with George's issues with bottling as he is set to take Jenson's place after this year, and Lando trusting the wrong person who caused his love life to spin out of control. 2022 Beijing wasn't really shaping up so well.
