Summary
Takes place during the season 5 finale when they get out of the Upside Down but then is a massive AU from there.
Around him the world started to collapse. Steve tried to move but found himself grounded to the spot. Had Venca not died? Was he now trapped in some freakish mind maze? Frantically Steve looked around for the rest of their team. They were all desperately trying to get to each other, Hopper was yelling at El to run. Dustin was reaching for Steve but was stuck fast too. Steve cried out to his best friend but it made no difference.
“EL!” Mike’s scream echoed strangely in the mist world. All eyes once again landed on El. Her serene face was confused as she watched the world around them all rapidly fade.
“Mike?” Her voice was soft. She reached out an arm towards him.
The floor vanished from their feet and Steve was suddenly plummeting into nothing. Darkness swallowed his vision and silence dominated his ears. He couldn’t even hear his own scream of terror.

Summary
Buck also read about those who are about to die or have had an out of body experience when they did die of seeing people. People they knew and loved, family and friends, strangers they knew they could trust. Maybe that is how Death appears. Not as a great cloaked figure but instead as a kind face to give that person one last touch of love before they die.
If that is the case, he is glad to see Bobby, Eddie, Hen, and Chim running to him. At least he will get to see them one last time. Hopefully this time, if it is his last, they will be as they were before, loving, kind, and gentle. If he is to be led out of life he was glad his guides were faces he trusted implicitly.
Months after the lawsuit Buck had been essentially pushed out of the 118, existing only in the fringes of the firehouse. Sidelined, Buck watches the team go out on a call to be the man behind but that leaves him alone and vulnerable when a stranger comes into the firehouse with a vendetta.

He felt the pain of stones against his skin as he dropped to his knees. He felt the soft gentle weight of a hand resting on his shoulder. He found he could lift his gaze up to a familiar but uneasy face.
Percy took in a great shuddering breath as realisation struck him. Tears filled his eyes and he stared at Chiron, “what did I just do?” He whispered.
Percy’s eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed into the centaur’s arms.

AU for the Battle of Half Blood Hill where Gaia is defeated but to do so Percy tapped into that darker part of himself, the emotional repercussions afterwards and Percy learns that he is not as invulnerable as he sometimes thinks

“Yo cousin!” Ritchie called from the front desk, “there’s a fuckin’ line, are we open or not?”
Carmy could feel himself drifting further from reality. Carmy was about to go out front and shout at Ritchie to help in the kitchen when he suddenly felt a stabbing pain in his chest. His lungs, still working overtime, spasmed. The pain increased rapidly as a fire spread over his chest. Something’s wrong he thought, still feeling disconnected from the moment, I need to get Ritchie. With a hand gripping his chef whites he went to walk to the door separating the kitchen and the front of house but as he did his knees buckled sending him crashing to the floor.
